I didn't even know you can buy upvotes! I'm such a noob. Anyway, I agree with the conclusion and this also worries me cause I love steemit and I want this to become a good alternative to the shit everyone is using today.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

    It is bad that it is happening. It is good that it is identified. It is good that we have the level of transparency on Steemit to be able to identify when abuse of the system occurs. I am confident that this will be brought to an end.
