The downtime was due to OVH's servers.

The connection got cut, and my server got killed too.

I noticed my XMPP server died, and then Steemit wasn't working either!

I did some sleuthing, and realized that Steemit uses the same server I do. OVH's BHS server.
But it's all better now, and I'm probably getting a free month of server use. Woot.

It could have been a DDoS to one of their canadian DCs, and it seems they all pass through the same routers, despite @heretickitten's server appearing to be in a different datacenter to Steemit's.

Still quite funny to see a platform that earns $10k+ a day to itself use OVH, a server company designed for budget servers.]
