Did You Know Influencer Marketing is 11X More Effective Than Banner Ads?

I have watched as influencer marketing is gaining strength as more and more brands seek out people with influence across social media. It is by far the most effective way for a brand to leverage its ad budget.

Influencer Marketing is Word of Mouth Advertising in the Digital World.

We all follow people on social media that we respect and listen to their advice. It used to be that we took advice from the local barber, Doctor or our neighbors. Now we trust the advice from people half way across the planet more than our own circles. I know I do! The people I listen to online have gained my trust by continually posting quality content that pertains to the subjects I care about.

Below are people that are online influencers who have pull in their respective communities online. Steemit does not need a huge ad budget to attract users. These types of users tend to disappear after a short period. When an influencer says something has value, their followers are more likely to come along for the ride.

Some Examples of Influencers I Trust.

Chef Dennis Littely- I have known Chef since the early days of Google Plus. He has consistently produced amazing content for his millions of followers across social media.

Ileane Smith- Ileane and I have been friends since the early days of Google Plus. She is a social media blogger and Youtube vlogger. Her tips will transform your online presence and her genuine love will touch your soul.

Sam Hurley- Top digital marketer and online influencer. Sam rocks it on Twitter and I have been following this power player for years.

Reginald Chan- Social media and SEO guru. Reginald and I are peers in the social media game. We met through a website called Triberr. I have learned so much from him over the years.

Dr. Tammy Cashion- Chiropractor and the epitome of how to be social on social media. Her magic is love and she spreads it across social media far and wide.

Amanda Blaine- Tech lover, Gamer and founder of Girlfriend Social. Amanda has spice and a loyal following. We have been online friends since her days of dominating the Google Plus landscape.

Alice Beth- Alice is a fellow Panama expat who loves the international lifestyle. Her writing is top notch and so inspiring. Her positive energy is infectious!

Ryan Biddulf- We met through Triberr when I joined in 2013. He is a master of writing eBooks and supporting his travel around the world through blogging. He is also a guru of staying social on social media.

Why Steemit Should Choose Influencers Over Any Other Form of Outreach.

I am not quiet about my belief that influencer marketing will be the most effective way to attract users to this amazing platform that Ned, Dan and the team have gifted us.

When Google Plus launched they effectively leveraged influencers to launch the product. The first two years of Google Plus were some of my best memories on social media. We are now quietly doing the same thing here on Steemit.com while we work on moving out of Beta.

When a group of influencers inform their following about the possibility of earning an income from their content the Steemit platform will explode. We saw what happened when Jeff Berwick joined. He brought a tidal wave of new users and transformed the Steemit landscape in just a few weeks. We can replicate this across many different topics!

Everyone has a different motivation to see Steemit succeed. Mine is not just the money but a feeling that we are revolutionizing the attention economy. I look forward to attracting the best of the best to evangelize Steemit.

interesting analogy

Great post! It seems many of us are thinking along similar lines.

Great minds think alike!

I am reading more than commenting, it is wise to learn from people who have been there like you guys, the #Crypto and #SteemitElders

Commenting builds your rep score. So get to commenting. ; )

LOL, I have posted the odd milestone update. I am commenting a lot, I am in the top 100 now and over 2000 posts lol. Your #MinnowLife buddy here just plugs along day by day - I post helpful stuff when I can.

i havent muchly thought in this direction. makes so much sense

The results just make sense. I am just thrilled to be aboard the Steemit Train before the masses come.

IN how many months for now, do you forsee the masses coming? is there an app that allows connect with our followers directly to maximize the potential? i just thought of that now, i decided to ask, who knows, there may be!

That depends on the direction of the team. It won't happen until we leave Beta. I am guessing June 2017.

I could not find out who this cool gif belongs to -- if it is yours, do you mind if I use it? I like this and I cannot do this kind of stuff you know LOL.

@Benjojo made it and I then put it on my Giphy channel.

I upvoted and your reward went down 19 cents! Great post and really endorsing that a referral online is equally powerful as a referral offline - in fact, I believe that as access is so easy that an online referral has even greater power. I would love to hear your thoughts around the relative expenditure which should be budgeted for subscriber retention. There is lots of "go to" but less "stay here" from what I have seen.

The price of Steem plays a large part in payouts. If it swings the price can move quickly.

My personal belief is that the job of the Steemit team is to attract users with a nice platform to use. Retention on the other hand is the job of the community and the users themselves. I don't try to convince anyone to use Steemit. I just show them the path and I leave it to them to build a foundation here. Money thrown at users for retention will never work. If the money dries up they will leave. Just look at what happened when payouts dropped from their all time highs. Let's make people feel welcomed by keeping the social in social media.

Thank you for your reply! Much appreciated - if the retention factor or stickyness of a subscriber is determined by a "nice platform", then do you think that the metrics of 115-odd thousand subscribers and about 4,000 live subscribers, including the robots and the multiple IDs, add up to a rosy beginning. albeit in Beta? Facebook has upped its game alarmingly over the past year. Google is a remote multi-platform - actually, I think they need a subscriber User Interface page for everything you do with them - email, search, translate, apps, etc. Digressing ... in this multi-comms digital world, how the hell are steemit going to keep people with such base functionality across a thousand pages?

If it was your money where would you be putting it?

Facebook is my least favorite social media platform and increasingly intrusive. Google Plus is great but difficult to use. Twitter is still awesome but requires work. Once people use Steemit they will see the value of the positive atmosphere but like I mentioned before the churn will be huge if they don't have the community holding their hands once they arrive. I have more comments on this one post than I have had on my top 500K ranked website in the last six months. We may be a small pebble but we are causing ripples in the social media pond.

I spread my content far and wide.-->

I spread your message too, if you recall! I would be ensuring that my platform is 'idiot proof' and has the functionality which ensures that people stay - Slice & Dice - geography, tags, messaging, voip, direct to bank depositing/remittance, 2 passwords (platform and financial), metrics (who earned what from what), how are my posts valued, drag and drop to read later, etc. Build it and they will come. Leave it and .....

One more thing ... why not create a page from where you can manage all your social media ... like an all-inclusive hub which can also link to your bank, cloud docs, insurance broker, Google apps, apple apps, etc. Like a console for the masses which one can personalise - add a social media account here ... pinterest, snapchat, Skype, whatsapp, .... then you have a platform and blockchain can be the underpinning technology - are you a billionaire with my ideas yet?

These are all great ideas that can be implemented over time. Considering Steemit began in a basement less than a year ago is a good sign that we are heading in the right direction.

Influencer Marketing is truly at the inception phase. In the "real world" "word of mouth" marketing has proven to me the most effective way to advertise or publicize a product or service. A distinction needs to be made between Mega Influencers and Micro Influencers. Mega Influencers are very costly and do not provide the same level of authenticity as to Micro Influencers. Excuse all the cliches, but people buy from people and promoting a product to your friends through your social channels is a way for you to endorse a product or service. Micro Influencers also have a higher engagement rate with their friends and followers. Considered a technology "Influencer" in my industry I co-founded an Influencer Marketing Platform / Startup Koodzo. Glad to answer any questions how we can leverage Koodzo to help the Steemit community.

RS and UV for you.

  • I was busy tied up with activism in 2009/10/11 challenging the corruption locally - and when a couple people told me to start mining and get involved in Bitcoin, I missed that boat. I looked into it after a few times, still did not get involved.

I am not in a great spot after the accident -- but once I saw Jeff Berwick's posts and yours, I kind of determined to get involved and learn and not miss something great again.

I've never been an early adopter at things like this and the skills and ideas are now transferable to other projects and areas.

Anyways you know some of that about me, others don't - but TY for the support. I am doing my best.

indeed influencers are the top now, hence why youtubers and instagram stars make so much now

It will continue to grow as more brands catch on.

Excellent points made.

Thank you Thomas!

Great post @hilarski. I hope we can attract another round of influencers in Steemit. Not just because they bring more users but they have great stories to share.

That will lead to readers, then more users and so on and so on. That is what happened with Medium. Imagine they did not pay have the paying upvote feature. Steemit crushes Medium.

I've been making suggestions to post on steemit to random people or companies. Make a suggestion in the comments to post here as well. I don't even mention the crypto part. Just like the community.

That tactic is similar to cold calling unless you know the person. As much as I write about Steemit, I have had only a handful of people who were serious about joining. The rest seem disinterested and I know not to waste my time.

Fair point.

lets put this in to action @hilarski .. on realworld scenario

What do you have in mind?

It does seem that the potential to earn is not enough on its own to bring people in. There has to be good content here and those are the kind of people who will provide it. Steemit ranks well on Google, so quality content will be found. Bring them in if you can.

A referral incentive might help encourage recruitment

Influencer marketing is definitely reaching a Golden Age. I think a lot of it has to do with millennial mindset. They are more likely to trust the opinion they follow before making a purchase, whereas older generations still like to touch things.

Absolutely, I might be older but all I need is a good review from a peer and I will make a move.
