STEEMIT 101. - How NOT To Behave Or Approach Steemit.

Fellow seaweed and minnows. This one goes to all of you. Just as a friendly reminder.

Before we begin, I want to tell you that I usually don't highlight specific people or point fingers towards people directly. However, in this article, I have to do it. - As I personally believe it will be a great lesson for the author and also a good example for others.

No matter how much I try... - People are still doing this.

I know that I'm not alone. We are tons of Steemians who're trying to educate and teach fellow Steemians. - We spoon-feed people with our knowledge and expertise... And they either don't give a shit about what we say or they don't care about it.

And I'm obviously not talking about everyone. I'm talking about some people. - Most Steemians I know of, are listening. They care and they want to learn. - That's also the main reason I still work hard to provide good content and to motivate, encourage and inspire my readers. Because I know they care.

That being said, in this article I will talk about user: @sharmin.

"Art is my life."

That's the only thing this user have in their bio. (The line of text on their profile). - And here me out, there's nothing wrong at all with using only one sentence or a few paragraphs. And there's also nothing wrong with not having any text at all. - You do whatever you want and there's no perfect answer for "how to" use this.

However, in this specific case, the user have this stated and that's basically because this user shares a ton of ART. - So it truly fits their approach on Steemit. - This is actually a good thing to do. - To highlight what you share. - Many other Steemians are doing this exactly like this.

Personally, I did it like this:

Anyhow, this person also did this:

Please read this post. I want your help but I do not begging. I believe that this post will tuch your your heart. I am not asking you for send sbd or steem, Its your wish. But I request you to 100% upvotemy post. ===> https://steemit.com/steemit/@sharmin/dark-sky-my-dream-like-those-art-without-peoples-support <===

So, this is not about the grammar mistakes or anything like that. I'm not native in English either and I do tons of mistakes too... - This is about the things they're trying to accomplish.

Let me break it down to you even more...

beg.png

At first glance, this is exactly what the user claims it not to be. This is pure begging.

I am not known to judge people beforehand, and I usually don't jump to any conclusions at first sight... So I tried to look at this from another perspective. - "What if this is due to the language barrier?"

  • That said, I gave this user a second chance before judging.

I looked at this users wallet as I was eager to get some answers...

That's when I saw the message I posted above for the first time. - And for 18 times in total.

After a couple of more seconds... I also found this:

이 게시물을 읽어주십시오. 나는 네 도움을 원하지만 나는 구걸하지 않는다. 나는 이것이 당신의 마음에 닿을 것이라고 믿습니다. ===> https://steemit.com/kr/@sharmin/2cfrw9 <===

This is in Korean. - And this is more or less the same message this person sent 18 other people in English. - This person sent 30 identical messages to people. - Not begging but requesting a 100% upvote...........

Even though I was already aware of this user being a fraud/scam-artist..

  • I decided to take a look at their latest post. - And I saw this:

scam.png

  • This user did not just beg for upvotes. He/She also shared other peoples work.

And now, this persons account looks like this:

rekt.png

Long story short. This person is a fraudster/scam-artist who was greedy and destroyed their own reputation. - Like I've stated many times before, Greed can be a disgusting thing.

And that's todays lesson.

  • Don't do stupid shit like this.

Work hard. Put in effort. Share and contribute. - You will be rewarded for it.

Building your following, reputation and earnings on Steemit is not a get-rich-quick scheme. - It takes time and effort.

That indeed a shamefull things to do. I guess language barrier is not a problem in this huge comunity, but spam and other people's works stealing is never right.

I'm 10000000% with you on this. When i was a teeny tiny minnow back in June i was irritated deeply by a profile that re posts stuff, that does really bad copy/ paste jobs. Also more disturbingly posted some "research" suggesting diabetics should exercise first thing in the morning without eating. As a health care professional that was the straw that broke the camel's back. As i said this was back when i started so i didn't know what to do. Now i do. This person is still at it...... I'm going to tag you in something so you can please tell me I'm not crazy. Also back in June i counted at one point over 22 blogs in a seven hour period....

Hmm.. It looks like @cheetah have found a couple of things too.

Like this:
https://steemit.com/news/@steemmaster/philippines-80-dead-in-three-nights-of-drug-war

And @cheetah responded with this:
https://nenosplace.forumotion.com/t144071-philippines-80-dead-three-nights-of-drug-war

So that might be plagiarism, in case he's not the original author from "nenosplace". However, to publish the same article on Steemit more than once is definitely not okay. - You've already been rewarded for your content, (no matter how much you made from it), so that's pure bs in my opinion. - Just imagine how Steemit would be flooded with duplicate content if people published their articles multiple times...

Good find @chelsea88! This might be something for @stellabelle and @sherlockholmes if they aren't aware of this already. - It definitely wouldn't hurt to look into this a bit more.

I mentioned it to @stellabelle already. Think my comment got lost in the shuffle. Thanks for responding. this account has a lot of redundant postings

Oh, that's great. I've just informed her about this too. :)

Cool. I really appreciate you also looking at this one. I can allllmmmoooost maybe "put up " with a little spam... but as i said the one health blog regarding diabetics, very harmful misinformation....!!!!!

Hey Chelsea88 how's the job as a geryatric PT?

Hello! Its great! Is that you in the profile pic @connormcsniper3 ? I'd be scared shitless lol

You seem to have left out that you could do everything perfect as you posted but if a single whale disagrees with an opinion you have you can kiss making money on this site good buy.

Well this article wasn't really about that but yeah, you could potentially do everything "perfect" and still be a victim of people who disagrees with you. - However, I haven't really stumbled across these bad whales people are talking about from time to time. - Most of the times it seems (to me at least) that there are a more than just one article or a bad joke who creates a "flag war".

I mean, at the end of the day, we are all people. Unique and different. - We can't agree on everything but most people doesn't use their powers to destroy others reputation just for fun. - It's often a good reasoning behind actions like that. - Even tough you might not agree with it, they usually have a pretty good reason for doing this.

Berniesanders is one of the "famous" or "infamous" so-called bad whales and he and fyrstikken had a pretty nasty war a while back. But they sorted everything out and it seems like they are at peace nowadays.

Communication is often the key to end things like this. At least that's my opinion.

Would be nice if he stopped flagging me.
he cant even give a reason because there is none.
I just got hit yesterday again, its about once ever 2 weeks he does this shit for no reason except to get attention.
https://steemit.com/steemit/@skeptic/ima-take-a-night-off-cause-this-is-bullshit
one person for a year been doing this nonstop. so till that problem is fixed all the other things people should or shouldn't do don't really matter. atleast to for me and others in my situation( there are a lot).

maybe the post should say don't ever have a differing opinion from the whales ever and always agree with them.
lol

sorry bout the blah bah blah.
It just pisses me off and makes it hard for me to think about anything else when on steemit.

This sure is helpful... Thanks @hitmeasap

I hate reposters, spammers and scammers. It's good to see the Steemit ecosystem protecting itself from these people.

I hear you and yes, it's great to see the "Steemit-Defense" being activated when we come across things like this. - We also have several Steemians working hard to catch scammers and fraudsters, so even if we're still in an early stage, there's things going on to make Steemit a better place for all of us. :)

Agreed, like you can ask people for an upvote if they like the content and stuff but forcing people for a 100% upvote and saying it's not begging is just not right.

Take your time and earn money for quality stuff, don't try to make a quick buck by scamming people.

yes i had a message from "scamin" too - if you want to see an original painting i have one i just posted and i painted it myself. love n light-D

Great post, I once upvoted something I thought was original and later found out it was stolen but couldn't undo the vote, felt like I had cheated too!! horrible
