it's been a long time I'm using smartsteem and smartmarket services to monetize my STEEMPOWER holding.
Steemit is a platform which provides you this ability, to monetize your holding tokens beside the speculation on the price. on the negative side this will result in inflation and the risk of devaluation of the tokens themselves.
here is a simple calculation for the profit rate, or more properly said, the ROI for a Smartsteem user, who sells his/her vote for SBD or STEEM.
I assume you have 2400 SP (effective Steem Power, not under powerdown)
also I assume you sell 10 votes a day, all at 100% voting power, for the ease of calculation:
0.072 x 10 x 365 = 262.8
262.8 ÷ 2400 = 10.9 % annual return on investment
The numbers are what I have watch in my own account and earnings for more than a month. the rate for all other type of entries are almost the same and seems accurate.
So I can imagine this system has an inflation about 12-15%, though I haven't calculated that and may study that in a different post
