Why more and more of us are becoming comfortable with baring it all.
Although some may blame the lack of modesty among us on an apparent loss of morality and shout about how “kids these days just have no respect for themselves” these are not likely to be the culprits behind the way we dress and such beliefs may be entirely false; the exact opposite of the truth.
What one may see if they open their minds up is that there is an extremely refreshing and much needed wave of acceptance washing over much of the United States and other parts of the world. With the affectionate mention of plus-sized women in hit songs that top the Billboard Charts and more influential people coming out publicly about their own problems and imperfections the gap between our once overly-judgmental worlds is closing in.
There is a lot to be said for the fact that it’s no longer the end of the universe if we look goofy or accidentally wore a shirt that didn’t match our shoes to school that day. Soon, the closed-minded and stubborn will realize they, too are different and have their flaws. It will become obvious, if they are lucky enough to figure it out, that it’s that kind of behavior that breeds a seed of discontent and fuels the irrelevant need to shine a spotlight on those who stand out and make this world colorful.
Ironically enough, they are in for an even bigger shock once those exact people who they once discarded are able to acknowledge a need for forgiveness and simply find joy in knowing someone has set themselves free from the imprisonment of their own hypocrisy.
I agree with you for the most part but in addition to what you had to say. i would like to add in the fact that as I get older the common decency bar of society is in steady decline. I think 2001 is when I first noticed this idea or better yet fact and its been a steady decline ever since the only words not used in T.V. that I can think of is F*** and C***. Opinions?
