Hello my fellow UK Bloggers and Influencers and welcome to Steemit.

Some of you might be wondering what Steemit is and why I am inviting you to join myself and 500,000 other Steemians (our collective name).

Well, it is simple.

Steemit is an exciting social media platform based on blockchain technology and before you ask what that is, think about Bitcoin, but with an actual real life use (but don't worry, you do not need to know much about cryptocurrencies and I can help you). This fantastic Steemit for Dummies video from @just2random is a great introduction.

The premise is simple.

You register your free account (it can take a few days for verification) and you start blogging.....and EARNING.

Not a lot at first, as you have to grow followers, discover and engage with other creators and become a part of the community.

However, as you gain followers and a reputation, you will be able to gain SteamDollars that can be converted to normal currency (currently at a rate of $8.50 USD) , while you will also earn Steam Power (one of three Steem currencies)that will enable you to reward others.

The post above earned me $500 USD (which I then bought more crypto coins with!!) and helped to increase my Steem Power to 0.06 Steem per vote. I aim for about 20 upvotes each day (any more than this and your "power" and curation rewards reduce) and this "curation" can also increase my earnings, so it pays to be nice and to support your peers.

And that is another reason why I am inviting you to join me, here in Steemit.

To succeed in Steemit, like anywhere else, you have to be creative, consistent and supportive. The more people that follow you and vote for you, the more likely it will be for your posts to trend and attract the votes of others.

There are many communities on Steemit and I think that it would be brilliant to replicate the amazing UK Blogging communities that we have on other platforms, here on Steemit.

We could create pods, special UK tags and guide each other across the Steemit landscape.

By supporting each other and creating new content, we can reach new audiences AND increase our incomes.

So, please feel free to ask me any questions about my 3 months on Steemit and sign up today

Great idea, and I am on board with this, will keep on spreading the word and blogging away :-)

welcome to steemit @howmanymiles, best regards..
hopefully you feel at home here. 😊

Loving it here, @devsuraj and hoping that my UK blogging friends will join me. Shared this on a few Facebook groups and hope that it attracts new members. I waited 3 months to get a feel for it and to build my own reputation and power. I really like how I can reward others while earning myself author and curation awards

Im finding it hard to get people on here. I tell them to join if they have something to say or are creative and they just seem to take the idea and throw it away. I think there is an element of "disbelief" to it. Highly frustrating. How do you drag these people away from instagram and facebook?

With great difficulty, Mark. FB etc are well established and have many attractive functions. As soon as we mention "crypto" people not invested in blockchain turn off. There is a disbelief and even my screenshots of my very reasonable earnings are not enticing them. I especially avoided sharing the earnings of the whales in order to make it look more realistic, but even revealing that one blog post made me an extra $500 USD has had little impact...so far

I waited 3 months to show that this is not a flash in the pan or scam, but I do expect to hear "bubble", "pyramid scheme" and "ponzi' directed at me, like I do with my crypto investing (I'm a hodler)

However, I will say this. How many Steemians use FB to promote their blogs? How many times are we redirected to Discord or other off Steemit platforms? How many of use will search for Steemit posts on Google rather than the Steemit search engine? How many of us are aware of (or confident enough to use) the various supporting tools? I could go on, but this has actually encouraged me to learn more as I am showing my ignorance.

I do genuinely believe that Steemit will continue to grow and that more will migrate over to us. However, I don't know if we are close to them giving up FB or instagram.

Thanks for the information and (open) invite @howmanymiles ...I'm looking forward to finding my way around and getting to grips with it all as well as contributing to the community!

Excited to be joining the fam! Thanks for the heads up :)

Thanks for introducing me to Steemit. I look forward to becoming part of the community.
