It seemed a great idea, but now that I'm finally here, I'm not really sure what to write or share about.
To be honest, most crypto currencies are not my cup of tea. In my vague understanding, the value of a currency is basically its ability to facilitate transactions, and/or hold value. It's definitely clear that after all the attention bitcoin and ethereum had, there isn't a building momentum of products and services offering transactions on bitcoins.
I mean, there is definitely products and services that you can pay with bitcoin but in a society ruled by convenience, bitcoin is mostly a nuisance, at least while we talk under the assumption that we are looking forward to an environment where cryptos play the same role as FIAT money plays nowadays for the average citizen.
It's not only a nuisance because its highly fluctuating value, which serves the purpose of speculators (increasingly more people) but because it would be really hard if not impossible paying everything you need with Bitcoin, specially outside of the US.
It's also a nuisance because after all the effort Bitcoin, or really any crypto, is basically unusable for the average Baby Boomer, or your grandma, or your non-technical friend. I'm not even going to mention other cryptos.
Also, it seems that cryptos will also not be able to help solving the more classical problems of distribution of wealth and power, since well organized miner, with previous resources available, are the ones with the higher steak here.
I'm still on the way of understanding the inner value of steem past the marketing buzzwords, so by now from what I understand I can only see cryptos solving partially the problem of the anonymity/convenience equation, and not really that well, since many people around the world still use fiat money and stay untraceable.
So that's my two cents without thinking extensively about it, I'm not pretending to be an academic.

Cryptocurrencies are, an will be, used as reserve of value, smartcontracts, micropayments, ico.. for several reasons, one is that using a credit card online is much more complicated than use a cryptocurrency wallet

How so? I'd say understanding how a credit card works is way easier than any crypto wallet.
