To focus on building relationships, I'm going to MUTE anyone who resteems anything. |

is that a threat?

No. I'm not going to mute you. There will be exceptions. I'm trying to figure out how to make this platform fit for human habitation.

Since I've been on Steemit I've noticed that only a tiny, tiny, TINY percentage of what I see is of sufficient quality to be re-inflicted on those who follow me.

I came to this idea while looking at my feed, which contained four resteems by a single person within one minute. I wish that I could just mute resteems without muting the person.

me too.
I generally just 'unfollow' someone who does that..

How do you keep track of it? Do you routinely follow people who follow you, as I do? When I periodically go through my list of followers, I click "follow" on every user listed other than the muted users. I'm using mute to maintain a "stop list". How else can it be done?

you ONLY get the 'resteems' of people/accounts that you follow.
If you UNfollow you no longer get their 'resteems'.
I ONLY follow people who write stuff that I find interesting.
If they quit interesting me I quit following them.
MonkeySphere and like that....I have a VERY short list of people that I follow.
about half are in my (Steemit) monkeysphere..the others write technical information
for example I follow steemstem because the account covers Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathmatics (not that I understand all of it) but sometimes it's interesting..
I follow BlockTrades which is an exchange....for updates. That's how I found out about renting delegation and buying accounts.
I follow jrcornel, dragosroua (the witness who I've delegated my witness vote to), penguinpablo, kingscrown and some others because they are experts on something about Steem, the BlockChain or CryptoTrading. I rarely comment.

Most of the others that I follow write about stuff I find entertaining or interesting.

Everyone is on probation. Sometimes I UNfollow them for a while, the change my mind and ReFollow.

oh...one thing...steemitdev wrote this today
Stale Account Info Due to Caching Error. I was very much relieved.

I'm going to look into whether I can write a bot to keep track of things so that I can just unfollow people rather than mute them. You and I have different objectives for being here. I am only here to form relationships with people. I'm trying to figure out how to make the platform work for that.

Do you routinely follow people who follow you, as I do
nope.

Go ahead buddy. We're not hear to live up to your shit. See if I care if you mute me. I like what others have to say. I sometimes like what you have to say. I also like that no matter what we say, we can make a few cents here and there. Does that make sense? It makes perfect cents! LOL

I like what you have to say, too. There will be a few exceptions. I'm trying to figure out how to make this platform fit for human habitation. There is so much crap in my feed that the only way for me to get it under control is to try this.

Even I wouldn't survive this rule, because I resteem occasionally. But I'm going to stop resteeming completely and, at least for now, I'm going to mute anyone who resteems, unless the resteeming is rare and I already have a relationship with the person.

I see. I don't like the bots either. I just ignore them and all the crap they post. I wonder what Steemit will be like once we have over a billion users. We are only at 1 million now.

From the information I've come across in my 45 days here, it appears to me that the blockchain is not scalable. The entire blockchain is stored in a single file entity on a single computer. (Each witness has a duplicate.) If that is true, there is an unmovable brick wall across the tracks up ahead.
