Doing Small Things With Great Love.....The Steemcare Project's charity outing

in steemit •  7 years ago

All around us, we find the needy. Hungry people, homeless people, people who can't afford to send their children to school, people who lack access to efficient health care, etc are everywhere these days, yearning for help and aspiring to get out of their dilemma and enjoy a quality life. They require help and sometimes, they find it.

People like Bill Gates, JK Rowling, George Soros, Gordon Moore, etc have given heavily to charity. I am particularly intrigued by the case of JK Rowling, who was on the Forbes billionaire's list from 2004 to 2011. However, in 2012, she dropped off the list as a result of her donations towards various charitable causes. Another individual who is reported to have fallen off the list is Jon Huntsman Sr. He fell off the list as a result of his donations o his cancer foundation.

Now, we members of the "Steemcare Project" are not Bill Gates, JK Rowling or Jon Huntsman Sr and we don't have enormous amounts of money to give out towards charitable causes (at least, not yet), We choose to give to charity in our own little way. As Saint Theresa of Calcutta (Mother Theresa) said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love".

Yesterday, we visited "The Trumpet Of Life Ministries Inc, a.k.a Solid Rock Orphanage" and presented the children with foodstuffs, toiletries, provisions, writing materials, etc. All these items were purchased with funds we have earned from Steemit.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed. It was an amazing moment for me as I saw triplets for the first time in my life. These girls, namely Grace, Gloria and Gift were absolutely amazing. Grace and Gift were jovial, while Gloria was the shy one, who clung to @jade56 all through our stay. I've always heard about triplets but I have never encountered a set physically. They had me captivated, if I decide to have kids, I would want a set of triplets.

There was a pretty baby girl who was my name sake. For the first time, I was drawn to someone who is my namesake (For some strange reason, I've always found it difficult to be on good terms with a namesake). It was weird having to ascertain who was being called when our name was mentioned. I was instantly drawn to this baby and it felt good to hold her in my hands and take a few pictures with her. I even started feeling broody at a point.

There were other kids at the home, including Kelvin, Eniayewun, Elizabeth, etc. Elizabeth practically deprived me of the right to my phone all through the visit, playing the various games available. The other children crowded around @ehiboss, taking turns to play games on his phone.

As we plan on making this visits monthly, we hope that we will be able acquire a sufficient amount of money with which we can be able to get them toys, schoolbags, more food items, cereals for their breakfasts before departing for school, etc, the next time we will be visiting.

Al the money used in financing this visit was gotten from what we earned on Steemit. If you feel desire to sponsor us,it would be really appreciated. However, if you don't have the funds to spare, you can support our work by upvoting and resteem ing our posts, whenever you see them.
