The Gift of Smarter Health and Fitness

in steemit •  8 years ago

Did you know that when worn and used properly, smart watches and fitness trackers, have the potential to be life saving medical devices?

I'm sure you've heard of the doctor who recently credited a fitbit with saving a patient's life. The fitness tracker gathered data that showed to the doctor that her patient had a very hard to diagnose but very dangerous arrhythmia.

The patient's condition was only detectable because a fitness monitor was worn during a time when the condition was triggered. This heart condition had gone misdiagnosed for years because it was only a special set of circumstances that triggered it. The patient was a construction worker who didn't even know he had a problem, but the device detected it and the doctor was able to confirm it with further testing.

As a Doctor, let me tell you that things like this are simply amazing!
Little gadgets that cost far less than the latest toy smartphone. Little gadgets that can be used to help Doctors, help patients, lead better, longer and healthier lives!

The problem is that these devices generate a large amount of data in a continuous stream, but they don't have a lot of storage and battery life is not so good.

This means they need to download regularly to a PC or Smart Phone and getting patients to do that and stick with it is probably a lost cause for most doctors.

So we've come up with a solution!
We are working with a major manufacturer of smartwatches to create a completely customized health and fitness monitor based on their reference designs for smartwatches.

These watches are actual android smartphones you can wear on your wrist.
While they work great with your existing phone, they are also perfectly capable of being the only phone you need.

They use voice navigation and speech to text, but also have a touch screen.
Owning one is a lot like living in the future, but without the need for a Delorean!

The MedicAxess, health and fitness monitor is an application we built, that runs in the background of these incredible little smartwatches, streaming the data live to our HIPAA compliant medical record systems. From there it's analyzed for emergent conditions and then safely stored with at rest encryption.

MedicAxess is designed to be an early warning system for your health.

Now here's the kicker. We're using blockchain technology to store this data.
This means that anywhere you are, you can check your health and you can even share this information with your healthcare provider. All data is encrypted with your personal key, so sharing with anyone you choose is a privilege that you can can grant or revoke at any time.

Your healthcare records are entirely your own, but we're here to help as much or as little as you choose. You're in charge, you're in complete control.

It goes beyond that though...
When MedicAxess goes live, it will be the only healthcare network that allows you to pay for medical services from real providers directly with funds you earned by mining at home. The whitepaper will debut soon.

Our premier application will be our blockchain backed medical records network, alongside our nationwide network of medical diagnostic cabinas and a one on one video conferencing application that allows you to be connected to a licensed healthcare provider 24/7. All you'll need is internet access.
These devices were built specifically to provide all that!

These are not "Android Wear" annoyance devices. They are full versions of Android 5.1 and even include Google Play so you can install whatever apps you want. We've left them completely open for further development. You can program them any way you like and it is our sincere hope that people will use this platform to innovate and share. Each smartwatch is carrier unlocked, boot unlocked, and you have full root access.

It's literally an open source smartwatch, with nothing locked down!

To help us launch this, we have worked hand in hand with the manufacturer of our health and fitness monitors.
At the moment we are offering 3 different models, which offer all the same medical features and mostly differ in style and "additional features" such as camera and battery life.

The list below is ordered by battery life, since the biggest difference between them is the battery life.
The RX has about 18hrs, the AX about 26hrs and the ZX around 36hrs.

All 3 are built on the quad core 1.3GHZ MediaTek MT6580 or the more recent MT6580m SOC platform and therefore they run the same OS, Android 5.1.

Screens are all within a couple mm of 1.54"@320x320, all have GPS, accelerometers. heart rate monitors and at least 3g and bluetooth. The ZX supports the latest BT4.0LE profile, meaning it sips battery life when connected to bluetooth devices such as headset.

ZX24.5x43x14.66mm35gblack$175

The ZX is made of sealed vulcanized rubber and it's waterproof. Although it might be better to say "splash resistant". You probably shouldn't wear it while doing dishes or deep sea diving, but I accidentally showered with mine on and it was fine. If you want to do video conferencing, you'll need a ZX, due to the camera orientation.

All units ship with MedicAxess preinstalled.
The RX & ZX models are also Steempowered!
@williambanks just updated Steembux to function on the RX & ZX models.
Steembux needs a camera for full functionality and the AX does not have one, a future update is coming to try and work around that.

We guarantee these products for a year and the prices are the same in US Dollars or SBD.
The price includes shipping to the USA, Canada or Mexico. Ask me for a quote if you live elsewhere.

These are not locked to any carrier and support a wide range of cell carriers.
If you live in the USA you will need either T-Mobile or AT&T but Straight Talk & Walmart Family mobile also seem to work. It has not been tested with Verizon, but Sprint is known to use a different frequency set.

In Mexico it works with all providers that we've tried i.e. Telcel, MoviStar, Lusacell.

It should work just about anywhere!

The background health data stream, consumes about 1MB per day, the video conferencing will use around 1MB per minute. We've tried to ensure that it doesn't waste data or battery.

To order, just send your payment in SBD to @imaxess and send us an email with your shipping address specifying the units and quantities desired.

These devices make the perfect Christmas gift whether or not you're concerned about your health. Heck they're just cool to have!

If you're a healthcare provider or would like to order in bulk, there is a 20% discount for orders of 10 or more.
Lead time is currently 4 weeks from the date of order, so if you want yours in time for Christmas, it's best to order right away.

So what are you waiting for?

Very interesting post, Thank You.

I'm absolutely loving mine!
I have the prototype of the RX model sitting on my wrist, you're never getting it back! Just sayin ;)

Honestly I prefer the looks of the final RX with the gold frame, but the silver frame looks sharp too. The ZX is an awesome little guy. Much lower profile than the RX which is chunky, but slightly larger than the AX which is really meant for people with smaller wrists.

Wish they had given the ZX more system RAM, but the camera orientation does make it far more suitable for video conferencing.

Getting steembux operational on these is why I'm running late with Havin guys. But I have a Havin update coming soon.

Anyways, upvoted, promoted and resteemed!

Yeah.... I want a ZX pleesss! :)

It's on order!

Can you get me a that medicaxess logo please?

The medicaxess logo is being redesigned by Roxanna. I'll get you the new version as soon as she's done with it.

That's a very wise move! :)

Wow, the future is here. When can one of these detect blood sugar levels? I'd love a continuous glucose monitor.

No but it's interesting you mention that. One thing we've been experimenting with is the fact that the CCDs on cameras can see in near IR. The image processing software actually has to filter this out. But it does contain important health information when the IR is coming off a human.

In theory, this frequency band should allow one to know pulse ox and glucose within a range of high and low. But it's just a theory and it's a theory that remains unproven. Still I'd love to see that.

Even if it were only able to tell you... Hey your blood sugar might be high, or low please consider checking it soon.

That is so cool! I wonder if it would work with those frequency machines used to test organ health??

I always wanted to buy such a watch, but I hate having things on my wrist... which is a problem for having a watch :D

Wow! This is pretty amazing!!! Bookmarked and will be added to @vivacoin asap!

Wonderful!!!
