STEEM Related Discord Embeds

A few of us have been corresponding with Discord Support, trying to figure out why links no longer embed thumbnails and other information.

They insist that the metadata is incorrect, but that doesn't explain why other services like Twitter are having no problems.

One theory is that Discord has blacklisted STEEM related content for some reason. But that's only a theory.

Here's my current correspondence with them:

When we paste certain links into general chat (or any other channel, on any server), none of the Open Graph metadata is previewing.

Sorry for the issues! When the embed doesn't display, this means that there is a problem with how you have the meta data configured for your website. Unfortunately we aren't able to offer insight on how to fix the meta data issue that you're having, however you can look at some other web pages for example, such as our own site (discordapp.com) or something such as Twitter (twitter.com). For the example URLs in question (anything on steemit.com), no other service has problems doing the embed, except discord. Twitter can do it. Rocket chat can do it.

I spoke with one of our engineers that wrote our new unfurler, there is a bug with HTTP request that is being fixed right now that will address this issue. Please let me know if you need anything else.
