Several days ago, I was sitting at my decade old computer, browsing the internet, looking for some games that could run on my toaster of a computer. I spent hours and hours. Not that I found no game that could run on my computer but all of them that showed up, I had played. These were the games that were released prior to 2002. Any game released later would've made my computer a blazing fireball. I felt hopeless. I had no money saved up due to college and bills. This was the computer that I had on me for the past 6 years, mind you. I had never upgraded it or wanted to build a new computer from scratch because at that time I just wasn't interested in gaming. But soon, as my social circle grew, I felt a pressing urge to play games with my friends online. I did not want to be left out on all the fun. So, I started saving up.
The Journey
I started from a dollar and worked my way up to a hundred dollars. I worked the minimum wage, went to college, paid my bills, and did all of those things. It was a pretty hard time for me financially but I made it through. Fast forward a couple of months, I find out about Steemit. I had quit my job because of a fight that I had with the owner, he was just an asshole to everyone, and I was in a dire need of money. Although, I had been in the crypto-currency scene for a while but I had never thought of something as unique as Steemit. How it combined the social media aspects and the crypto-currency to produce a god-like hybrid was beyond me. So, I went in and started writing articles.
Some of my earlier ones made like $200+ which helped my financial situation significantly. I had saved up enough money to buy a computer! The rig of dreams! Yay!
I went to pcpartpicker.com and made a system build. Equipped with all the hardware I needed. I ordered all of the parts online and one day, they finally arrived in mail! I opened up a YouTube video on how to assemble a PC. Surprisingly, it was much, much easier than I had initially thought. It was all done in like an hour or so. I fired up my rig and voila! There it was.
I remember I used to go on systemrequirementslab.com on my old computer and on every single game, it would say that my PC could not run that game. Until now. I checked the first game, Witcher 3, that I had wanted to play for months, on that site and guess what? I could run it!
It was a moment of sheer joy for me as a few months before I was sitting at my old shit-hole of a computer, cursing my luck. Wondering what I had done in a previous life to deserve this kind of a PC.
Steemit can definitely help you to buy that build of your dreams, too. If it helped me, why couldn't it help you?
My Advice
Write from the hidden depths of your heart. And don't just write, be a part of the community. Do something for Steemit. Preach about it. Generate and produce creative and original content. And the most important thing... DON'T DO IT FOR THE MONEY.
I see people here and there complaining about how someone made more money than them. This is exactly the reason of their failure. Instead of congratulating the individual at his/her success, they feel jealous and try to bring hate towards that individual. When has hate ever been useful.
For a moment there, I almost felt like I was reading something by my 21-year-old son. He has been gaming on the computer for at least half of his life, and has only just recently been able to upgrade to a computer better suited for the games that he plays.

I'm happy for him! I know how it feels to finally play the games that you want to play.
