Tonight, I was on the blog of @dan talking about EOS. I met a new person had seemingly controversial views named @murda-ra who signs his comments as "Lucifer" aka the devil.
I also got into it briefly with @everittdmickey over oceans receding and human population growth numbers.
None of what we were talking about really matters as far as the subject of this post.. but it got me thinking... I have to state how excited I am to be able to talk to these two people.
What does matter, is the organic exchange of ideas and people that happens on this blockchain every second, every minute, of every single day.
That's not just how I feel. Many of you do too... How many like minded people have you met on steem? How many good conversations have you had? How many opportunities have you had to share you how feel about something in public?
You can really engage with people here!
You can converse, you can state your options, you can post your views and have them commented on...
From a technological perspective, this whole thing is nothing more than a Wordpress blog with multiple distinct advantages.
Wordpress blogs don't pay their authors.
Wordpress blogs don't pay their commenters
Wordpress blogs don't pay their curators.
Wordpress isn't decentralized. Shut down steemit.com, you have busy.org. Shut down that one, any website can display the steem chain. This is open source and decentralized free speech at its best!
....I like Wordpress.. and I think it's one of the best open source projects ever created beyond Mozilla and Firefox.
...but we have to give attribution to STEEMIT and STEEM and Dan Larimer and the people who worked with him....
He had some way of knowing... build social media on the blockchain. Come up with STEEM and SBD and it would fund itself. The user attraction would scale and create its own ever-growing community.
WHO EVER THOUGHT OF THIS?
I don't know what @dan ate for dinner that night before he dreamt up this concept, but it it worked, and continues to work. He deserves a NOBEL PRIZE for the best creation in my lifetime.
Why?
I am meeting people on here, I never would have met otherwise.
I am talking to people, that I probably would have had to board an airplane to meet them.
I'm engaged. I can talk to real, solid people, through steemit that I could never ever do via twitter or facebook.
How much does it cost to join STEEM or STEEMIT?
IT'S FREE TO START
All of us are the early adopters in this.. wait until the rest of the world finds out!
P.S. If you like this... please re-steem. Don't be afraid. Lets tell the world. We have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
"He deserves a NOBEL PRIZE"
I think we should institute our own prize. Instead of NOBEL Prizes, we should have:
NOBLE PIZZAS
to give out to our honorees!
Great post, by the way! Maybe you deserve a Noble Pizza :-)

I am in the process of moving here from Wordpress - I am a serious newbie - and don't get enough time on the platform. I am not a technophile, nor a technophobe for that matter, and coding is new to me, so I struggle with the interface because Wordpress is so much more user-friendly.
Other than the platform, as you say, Wordpress doesn't offer much. Initially, one thinks it does and there are "opportunities" for Google ads and Adsense, but the barriers are so high, that unless it's virtually all you do, they are insurmountable - well for me, anyway. I took a break from my blog for a whole lot of reasons with the main one being that I needed to be focusing on serious income-generation. Having been introduced to @steemit, thanks to @jaynielea, I'm looking forward to doing more blogging ... and earning.
One other thing about Wordpress: I follow(ed) quite a few bloggers - quite an eclectic group - and was appalled at the number of trolls and how utterly mean and vitriolic they could be, completely ignoring the fact that there was a warm, feeling human behind the nom de plume. Actually, perhaps I shall share, in my next post, a little about that Wordpress blogging journey.
Finally, consider this re-steemed!

Insightful and quality comment you made. I am just starting to post some basic post to test the waters. @briandenver I seem to have a hard time attracting people that can make a complete sentence.

Great post @intelliguy ! I never wanted anything to do with the F-book! Steemit, on the other hand, is light years beyond as a social interface platform. My upvote & resteem for you of course

By the time the competition tries to copy their own version (remember Google+ blah blah blah)
You can imitate, you just can't reproduce success that easily.

Great Post, I don't like the crap that goes on within the other social media sites. Steemit is different and because you can earn money, people understand that if they cross the line they wont earn anything.

Brother great post @intelliguy! SO TRUE..this platform has something special. We can feel it. It's authentic and sincere in a indescribable kind of way. We need to be positive and supportive to make it a healthy community every step of the way. Let's follow eachother!

@intelliguy, yes, the others don't compare. I have met more people that were not active in other social media platforms that are obsessed with this one. :)

@intelliguy - offtopic question: Does that kind of investment on Steem Promotion engine, that you've used for this post, does ROI in the end ?
Im asking because until now i've used only community booster bots, not steem promotional integrated engine.
