I owe a lot of my mind opening to Ron Paul. I was raised to be a staunch Republican, and I was for most of my early life. Up and until I did some research on RP. I had heard of him before, but always went with the populist opinion that he was an 'outsider', a 'fringe thinker', and an 'isolationist'. After gorging myself on you tube videos of him obliterating people in debates, I was hooked on the idea of liberty. He wasn't any of those things people were saying, maybe you could say 'fringe thinker' because technically, he was one of the only people really talking about true freedom and small government.
I was a avid reader at the Daily Paul but never got Michael (the creator) to grant me a membership. Once I had asked him in an email, I read a few days later that he was pursuing other ventures and the Daily Paul would be no more. There went my shot.
A lot of the users who I had read for years were now talking about where they were going to take their talents, South Beach was not on the radar. Multiple different liberty minded sites were mentioned and I checked them all out but none of them had the pizazz, the community, the 'feel' of 'home', that the Daily Paul did.

I am hoping to see that some of those great advocates of liberty that I got to enjoy reading every day at the Daily Paul eventually migrated to Steemit.
It hasn't been widely acknowledged by the mainstream but the Ron Paul Relove-lution will go down in history as a very major turning point in US/world affaires. Truly it was the American Revolution redux. Once you listen to and hear the truth you can never go back to believing in falsehood. The paradigm has shifted.
"Conservatives" did all they could to block him and "Liberals" believed every bit of rubbish conjured up to mislead and misconstrue his real message and without reading a paragraph about who he is and what he knows and believes. Conventional thinking is pure demagoguery. Funny how the pure, nectarine truth is so bitter, to everyone with an agenda, that it's indigestible to the brainwashed masses. Enough thinking people did get the message though.
"The truth stands alone, even without any public support." Swami Sivananda, Rishikesh, Himalayas.

Wow, that is some great insight! I think one day in the future (probably after he is dead) he will get the recognition he deserves. Love the quote too. I think of his relove-lution as an idea more than a 'movement', which always reminds me of "Die! Die! Why won't you die?... Why won't you die?", "Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof." V for Vendetta.

Just saw this post. I was on the DailyPaul for years. I started reading when it started in 2007.
I loved that site. The users there were by far the best way to filter out bullshit from the daily news. Whatever the story, it was posted on the Daily Paul within hours, and many times months before the state sponsored media would pickup on it.
My favorite part was the comments section on the posts. Users were very smart, and though we would get into fights, the insights in the comments on current affairs were mostly spot on.
Give me a follow. I don't post much, but with payouts as high as they are, I'm gonna have to start writing again.
Hopefully one day, steem can produce an uncensorable environment like the daily paul.

Hey man! Your user name looks familiar. I never joined up, and by the time I was ready to Michael decided to call it quits. But I got most of my news there and like you said, BS was cut through and the banter here on Steemit kind of reminds me of how it was back at the DP. Welcome back and Steem on!
