I have to say this is a major flaw of the Steem community that there are individuals "with major influence". Methods can vary but in essence its censorship. And I was under the impression that we have freedom of speech - so does the followers have the right to upvote what they find worth appreciating. So to all #whales - please share your thoughts with us but stop censoring our community.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
