My Steemit Concerns - 1 Year Anniversary

My Profile says I began in May 2017, so I am 1 year old.

The big Steemit world still has treasures to find, pitfalls to experience & people to meet.

But, I do have some ebbing concerns about Steemit, DTube, Dlive & other app assets that come to mind.

Still Feels Beta-ish & Better than Facebook

Yes, it still is clunky and new.
I like that.
The flow of blogging is good and I have heaps of levels to gain in blogging, live blogging, informationing, proper citing, topic spilling.
It's missing the social media groups, categorising and so on, but it is getting better.

Owners could be the Tyrants

This concerns me a little bit.
The actual owners of the sites, IP, nuts and bolts - can this brand be built up by the community and then sold to the highest bidder.
The share holders could profit immensely on the efforts of others.
Similar to traditional communities who shared the land, but when the western world wanted to claim it, the village elders, sold it and took all the money for themselves.
When it went to court, a lot of people lost their "heritage" & "income earning" capacities.

Does Steemit protect the villagers?
And the created products, let's say, DTube or Dlive, or many other apps, platforms, websites, that spring up, community members invest time in developing and turning the idea, the platform, the app, into a money spinning, mainstream, Goliath.
Who them makes the money?
Ethics can be put in a draw. No crimes committed, only vows broken, and people can be left empty handed or, worse still, become the serfs of the new Landlords - overly invested into something that they can now not leave without much pain, grievance and economic hardship.

Whales vs Minnows vs Reward Pool manipulations

Ponzi scheme? Bot Reward Pool manipulation, Whales cornering the market for themselves.
The problem with decentralized, community based systems, is that, it looks like Tyrants can be the status quo from a weak environment. There is no regulating force to set Standards, so, there can be upheaval and erratic behaviour.
If someone, who invested money on a platform, suddenly becomes one of the Kings. There is no guarantee that the person harbours ethical and moral behaviour. The lucky people who suddenly fell into being one of the top tier people, may not necessarily have a developed, experienced path to that success - overwhelmed, misguided, selfish ... attributes that bad leaders have.

Political infighting, Giants battling each other, accusing each party of doing something "wrong". Are the accusations warranted? I do not know. The algorithms have been compromised. Party XYZ is evil. ABC is trying to destroy them.
Is this part of a new community. Is this why rules and standards will be created. Judges formed? Juries created? Laws passed?

Rules, Censorship, Tip Toe Toeing not to fall out of favour

Some strong personalities have the power to squash some smaller fries.
I have found myself on both ends. I respect both groups battling it out. I agree with both.
I hope that I don't have to pick a side.
It also leads me to consider created a few different Steemit accounts - covering different topics could make it easier to be in alignment for the people I want upvotes from.
It also protects me from backlash if some of my viewpoints will clash with some of my affiliates.
So, for content that is not politically correct or extreme, then it would make sense to create an alter-ego on Steemit.
But is that within fair play?
I see some have multiple accounts being used for questionable activities. It causes consternation to some as to who the hell are we dealing with, and, is the setup of accounts purely there to cause exploitation of the Steemit platform.

Theft of Ideas

People put up art, stories, thoughts etc etc... as much as we try to regulate (certain groups wince at any regulation on Steemit) that people dont Plagiarise, Copy internet world content, or reSteem other Steemit people's content as their own.
I also wonder, what a rich source of unprotected information available here on Steemit.

Oh, I need a short story for school, let me copy that awesome Steemit post story.
Art competition, let me steal this other thing. And so on.

I love being inspired by people, and, occasionally, inspiring others - even then, I make sure I upvote the content.

And someone posting other people's work on Steemit, which should be cited as such, can be a good thing.
I have found external sources all thanks to others posting it on Steemit.

Should they receive rewards for someone else's content? Maybe.
Advertising companies make money from promoting other people's content - although most times with consent.
But news media outlets report content that many times may not have the consent of the content providers.
New is reporting, and they get paid.
SO, why not a Steemian get paid, for reporting, sharing.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

can this brand be built up by the community and then sold to the highest bidder
Un possible.
Steemit (the corporation) MIGHT be sold...but why?
Steem can NOT be sold.
Busy, Dtube...etc...are owned by different people. (I think Busy is french?)
Be not concerned ,one year old...your fears are unfounded.

Thanks Epic Friend!!
