I think that's the single best piece of advice: constantly think about how you could be doing things better and questioning yourself. - Elon Musk
Let's Talk about the Resteem
To start, a word "resteem" in Steemit is the same as the word "retweet" in Twitter and "share" in Facebook. Resteeming is a Steemit term which allows you to broadcast a post to your followers. By resteeming, the post gets visible to the Home Feed of your followers.
A Screenshot on my home feed showing @aggroed resteeming a post of @cryptohustlin
Basically, since I followed @aggroed, all of his resteemed posts will reflect on my home feed. Its effect is that the post gets more visibility to Steemit users in the platform. As a return, better chances of getting higher post rewards - especially when big name in Steemit resteemed your post.
Resteeming a post also gets reflected on your blogs.
A screenshot on my profile showing the posts from @mosheheart, @rakitera, and @donkeypong which I resteemed
But what are the Pro's and Con's of Resteeming? How does Resteeming Many Blogs affect you?
Though resteeming creates an impact to the platform, there are also bad side of it. I made this post specifically to share awareness among users who are resteeming so much and still didn't have a full grasp of the platform.
Let's start with the Pro's (Positive Effects) of Resteeming :
Post Gets more Visibility
As mentioned above, once a post is resteemed, it is being broadcast to the followers of the users who resteemed the post. The more your post gets resteemed, the more it gets visible to a lot of users.
Potential Higher Rewards
Since the post gets visible to a lot of users, there is a big possibility that you receive higher rewards. Though content quality is an important factor to users upvoting your post, since it gets visible there's a possibility that they'll upvote a single post.
Post is Informative, Entertaining or Community-Driven
This is only the best that I can think when a post is resteemed (aside from a friend begged you to resteem lol). Either it is very Informative (science, electronics, fact, news, etc.), or Entertaining (fiction, poetry, art, etc.) or Community Driven (Campaign, Donation post, Challenge, etc.) then a post is resteemed. Meaning, they resteemed your post because of its importance to be shared to others.
The Con's of Resteeming | Resteeming Many blogs
Resteeming a lot of blogs creates a negative impact to you and to your followers. Resteeming is a critical aspect in Steemit and it shouldn't be either abused or misused. You should be responsible about this because you might lost important followers because of this reasons :
It clogs their Home Feed
Remember once a post is resteemed, it will appear on the home feed of your followers. If you resteem too much, you're invading their feed - an annoying thing!. I unfollowed some of Steemit users who are resteeming so much articles more than 10x than they blog.
Remember, there's no reward share when you resteem a post. Basically you're advertising their post on your behalf. This is an persuasive reason for them to unfollow you.
It clogs your Profile and Users cannot see your blogs anymore
Often times some users visits your blogs for them to see your posts especially you've done something to them. As a nature's response, they will return the favor. Either in upvotes or resteems or just to engage on your posts. But how will they look if when they check your blogs, all they can see are resteems? - Another annoying thing
You will lose followers
As a result on the things mentioned above, they will likely to unfollow you because you're clogging their feeds. Even if they wanted to see your blogs, all they can see are resteems and too difficult to dig into your blogs.
There are a lot more good thoughts about Resteeming but I'd like to end it here.
I think I have done all of my thoughts about resteeming and how it affects you if it will be mishandled or will be used improperly. Try to be responsible on your resteems. You're building a career here and you should focus on what you can do for the benefit of you.
Thanks for listening and I hope this helped you. If you have any comments, reactions or suggestions about this post, please don't hesitate to share your thoughts. I will surely appreciate it :)
I agree that Resteeming must not be abused. I try to only Resteem things when I want to share the post with others to increase the visibility of the post and at times when I want to enter a contest or drawing for SBD or STEEM. :) I do wish that there was a small curation return to the account that resteems a post from the additional value that your readers bring to the post by upvoting...

Since I wasn't here 24 days ago...
My main purpose for resteeming is to push content I find to be good and/or important for those who are following. But, how do I know if they're starting to follow these people like I do? I don't, unless I also follow those who are following me, which I don't do in every case, because I'm trying to be choosy about who I follow. So I could be creating noise for the followers because they're already following those I follow.
There really should be more of an incentive for resteeming. Right now, the way I've seen it so often explained, it's as much a detriment to you and your reputation/number of followers, as it is a help.

I typically resteem only a few people and mainly resteem those who upvote my comments. My upvote is not worth much but I feel if resteem I can show my support that way :) It's all about the balance I think.

I've always thought that resteemed content should be separate from personal blog content. I also totally agree about it clogging the feed, but I think that is a problem of some people resteeming a TON of content. I'm still not sure how I feel about people resteeming so many different articles. I understand why certain people and groups are, they're trying to support people through their programs, but it's still kind of annoying. Nice topic

Resteeming is great for a beginner as he/she hasn't started blogging yet.
Steemit should find a way of separating individual blogs from resteems. This is because some people cannot differentiate a resteem from individual blog!

That's true. I used to resteem every post of those that I follow and in group I was in it was a necessary course of action to resteem all of their post regardless of quality.
I have left that group due to opinion and difference in thinking. So now I am more discerning of content that I resteem because first I don't want to clog up my own blog and 2nd I don't want my followers to have their deeds clogged by so many resteems.
Like you I have unfollowed a couple of people I see that clogs up my feed with needless resteem especially if they resteem people that I don't necessarily like seeing.

Absolutely agree with your point of view. I have unfollowed several of those used to be good bloggers. The trouble is, whenever they lack of material to blog about, they start resteeming, like 10 posts a day. I had no choice but to leave them to live their resteeming life.

Ahh. The first cons.
I experienced that too. I followed someone a while back. The day after, I got irritated because there are lots of posts resteemed by that certain someone. I checked and they're post that are not really of use to me. It's hard to view other relevant posts that way. I ended up 'unfollowing' them. I don't know if I should feel bad at it or what.
