I believe it goes according to the average price of Steem or SBD. So if Steem goes down (or SBD maybe) it'll reflect how much your posts are worth. Alternatively, down votes could produce a similar effect.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
