This year is going to be a completely new journey for me -
as I explained in my
"One end and another beginning"
post yesterday about the decision to close my business which I have had for the last 11 years and also deciding to move out of the design and print industry completely this time around... (which for the record, I have been in for over 17 years now)... so ANYTHING other than that is going to feel a little foreign... but I am a firm believer in "trusting in the process of life" and moving onward and upward.
So, in the spirit of exactly that, I thought I would get our Steemit Bloggers Community on Discord to share some of their motivations and inspirations for the year ahead too whether it was their plans moving forward, an inspirational quote, or even a song which inspires them... it is always interesting to see what puts a sparkle in other people's eyes and lives...
I kicked off with a quote and a song which I will most likely refer to frequently as I step into this uncharted territory awaiting me...

2018 Motivation? Hmm... I suppose it's the same motivation I've had for close to three years now: becoming a better writer, have that work for me to generate some form of income, build a substantial whiskey collection (try not to get through all of it) and even hosting whiskey tastings. At some point expand my Whiskey Talk blog to include travelling and visiting places like the Lagavulin Distillery or doing the Kentuky Bourbon Trail.

Hello @jaynie... I clicked on this post via the discord channel, in the bloggers section. I've only been on steemit for about 8 days and joined discord a few days ago. I havent been able to bring myself to chat on there because to be honest at first I was totally overwhelmed by all the different chat groups etc. Just now I saw your mention about being away for a few days and that you are back now and then there was a link to this post. Anyway I started looking at your blog posts and then I got drawn in further and further back to some of your first posts. There is so much that you say that I can identify with , quite incredible actually, I also went through a divorce 3, 5 years ago and it was unexpected and really difficult and I had to, I felt, start my whole life over again because everything I had envisioned for my future was gone. I have come a very far way and that is why I felt so touched tonight by your post because it has given me some inspiration that I need today. On a day that I have allowed my inner voice to say 'Janique, why will that happen for you, who are you to get there'. But reading your posts from 6 months ago and how you decided to go for steemit and then 1 month later the success you already had (I really want that, that is my goal), I feel encouraged to continue with consistency, and diligence and patience and to keep believing that I am adding something to this platform and to people's lives.

Such a heartfelt response this was @janique. Divorce is certainly a difficult time to go through. I haven't gone through it and hopefully, I never do, but I have had my share of emotional trauma and pain too so I do get what you mean. Life is a series of good and bad episodes, but like the good times, the bad ones aren't permanent too. I am so glad to see you all enthusiastic about a fresh start. WOW, just WOW @janique!!!! As you most likely know, one of the reasons I started here in the first place was because I wanted a voice for my writing.... I wanted to inspire others to push on. I wanted to motivate them and tell them that no matter what, EVERYTHING will be ok....
Before I continue, I want to sincerely apologise for taking so long to reply, I dont normally.... but I closed my 11 year old business this week past so it has been a very emotionally taxing week and I simply havent had time for anything here on steemit.... but that being said.... everything is tying up quite nicely and now I can focus on the way forward.
I am thrilled that you were able to identify with the things I have shared, it really does help us on our own journey, when we can see that someone else made it through.
I was not intending to change my path quite as soon as it happened, but it was my ultimate goal and as we all know.... life has her own way of doing things lol.... so there it is and I could not be happier... :D
