Building communities: Finally met Steem Québec members! :D

in steemit •  7 years ago

I went to my first meetup with Steem Québec in Montreal, Canada and got to meet a few members at their weekly Steem Café. I felt really inspired by such a rich encounter and would like to share my thoughts on that.

We are naturally drawn to people who are aligned with our interests

Communities are made by people that share the same interests and Steemit is a platform that helps them thrive. Steem Québec is the perfect example of a local community that sprung from Steemit and has all the elements to flourish. I am really eager to learn more about Steem Québec and be a part of its ongoing projects.

Meet-up: a way to strengthen your emotional connection

Although we have previously chatted on Discord, there is nothing that beats physical interaction. By meeting some of the Steem Québec members, I immediately felt that all the virtual experience of Steemit came to life. Like a reality check!

My fellow Steemians, I would recommend at least one encounter with members of your local Steemit community by attending a meetup in your city. It definitely helps gain trust and strengthens relationships on Steemit.

Get inspired and get involved

I felt so motivated after the meetup! We had interesting discussions about Steem Québec’s vision as a non-profit organization and how we would like more members to join us. We all know that there is a steep learning curve for any new members of Steemit. Steem Québec has many ongoing projects aiming to help new members get familiarized and comfortable with the use of the platform.

I’m pleased to say that I’ll be contributing to the Steem Quebec community by developing marketing strategies that will help promote it. The idea is to build awareness of Steem Québec and I can’t wait to get started!

Steemit is a great platform to meet like-minded peers

Bottom line, all humans love to meet people who value the same things they do. Through Steemit, a connection is established and inspires us to get involved in communities that help us recognize ourselves for who we really are, our interests and values.

I believe that by respecting and listening to each other as a community, we can grow and become an inspiration for others. This being said, we all need support and trust from others in our ability to go out and impact the world as Steemit communities.

Sometimes even the smallest action can have a big impact. Especially when a community works together to share their vision by taking small but significant actions that empower everyone that is a part of it.

It’s nice to attend such activity like this, the meetup. You have the opportunity to know and interact with other steemians and share with them Your challenges and on how to grow on this platform. Sharing, listening and creating some ideas and strategies in order to grow on this platform is awesome. Unity, respect, and trust are important in a community.

I was contemplating going soon and now that I've read this piece, I intend to be there next week. Au plaisir!

Awesome @alexlapointe! I might go back next Friday too, but I'm on standby to give birth soon so can't be sure till at least Thursday evening :P I'm sure you will enjoy meeting our community members too :)

Very cool that you went to meet people outside the box; somehow it all seems a little more "real" when you have actually shared a coffee and some time with the people you interact with.

Exactly! That is why I encourage all steemit members to go out there and attend at least one meetup in their local community ;)

Steemit is definitely a great community. And meetup like that are necessary to not be only "virtual" but real like-minded peers. I hope to attend an event like that in the nearest future

I see you travel a lot so maybe you could sneak in a Meetup whenever you're somewhere one is held!
