The difference between night and daytime temperatures is suitable and, most importantly, there are glaciers, which improves the availability of water, and hence life.

Six volunteers were in a closed complex of 519 days. The experiment was as close as possible to the real manned flight to the red planet with a return to earth. In 2011, the Netherlands announced the launch of the Marsland project. Its essence consisted in the fact that a set of all comers for a flight to Mars was declared and the grounds for the colony were there. This is certainly a one-way trip. And no one will survive there.
