If I post a picture that I own within Steem do I still own the copyright to that image?

Yes. You own the copyright as soon as the image is created. There is the whole process of filing for copyright but under the general consensus of the law you own the copyright to whatever creative works you make unless you expressly relinquish those rights.

Yes, you own it! You also have the rights to protect the image, so if someone used it on their blog or Steem post, you can request them to remove it immediately.
