If I post a picture that I own within Steem do I still own the copyright to that image?

unless the tos says specifically that you don't, (as it does on FB for example) then you do.

Yes. You own the copyright as soon as the image is created. There is the whole process of filing for copyright but under the general consensus of the law you own the copyright to whatever creative works you make unless you expressly relinquish those rights.

Yes, you own it! You also have the rights to protect the image, so if someone used it on their blog or Steem post, you can request them to remove it immediately. It's up to you what type of rights you want to give for others to use the image. You can charge a licensing fee, or you can give a Creative Commons licence where it is free, but has limitations such as not using it for business purposes. The most common is to let someone use it free, but give attribution back to you. Check out the various Creative Commons licenses you can offer: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/
