Steemit Signup Waiting Period Holding Back MASSIVE Influx of New Users

So this is not meant as a complaint as much as it is more a constructive critique of this amazing platform which I want to see entirely succeed.

Lately I've gotten countless new users to sign up for Steemit through my media and large network of followers. It's incredibly exciting to me to see this massive influx of new users coming from what I like to call the dinosaur social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

There is something worth calling out though. Basically everyone I've gotten to sign up are waiting 3-10 days to be confirmed which is of course dramatically lowering their excitement of joining the platform and let's face it, doesn't look good. It's definitely not a good first impression.

As this platform expands at an incredible rate, something needs to be done to speed up this confirmation system. Much like the crypto-exchanges which have been overloaded with transactions and slowed down to snail speed, it's part of innovating this ever growing infrastructure to upgrade these now ancient codes and stone age crypto fundamentals.

I'm no genius. I can't fix these problems myself, but I know there are many out there who know how to change this system. This is the future of social media and we must protect the infrastructure of freedom in communications on this platform. We're on the ground floor of history here and we must be responsible with what we have in our hands.

I am in now! Still learning the ropes, thanks for guiding the way @joshsigurdson!

I'm in now too!

You've got a follower! :P

Awesome! Just sent a small gift to your wallet! :)

Much appreciated, I wondered what that was and where it went. :)

It's great to see you in steemit. Looked for WAN on Steem and couldn't find you. Following you now! Is your partner in crime, John, on Steemit?

He is! He's @theeconomictruth but he hasn't posted in 10 months. :P
You probably would have found us if you looked for WAM not WAN :)
Just followed you.

Excellent! Thank you for John's tag and for the follow.

I don't know, I think steemit would put itself at risk by seeking to grow too fast. The community needs time to settle in, and if we have a huge influx of users I don't think that's good for every. Keep away the "Eternal September" by only allowing a controlled flow of users!

I dont think so 😛

Myself as well. I have invited people and they complain they can't figure it out. I think they are having issues because they can't sign up.

Probably just overwhelmed. Cant turn off the faucet to fix it if youre trying to fill the sink I guess...

i really would like to know whats the issue here
many of my friends want to join right now, but losing interest

My husband got his password the night he sent his verification email but I unfortunately had to wait a week to get mine. I think if it was a more consistent amount of time at least that would be a huge improvement, even if you got a message that said something like "thank you for your interest, our wait time for email password receipt is 24 or 48 or 72 hours(whichever is the most common time frame)" or something just so we know when to expect it at least would be nice.

Looks absolutely awesome for the future!

They should do whatever it takes to remove the verification including removing the free STEEM in my opinion!

You need Steem Power if you read the white paper that's part of how it all works.

Fair enough!

if they remove the free steem, what are we here for..

I'm talking about the free 20 STEEM they give you

I am one of the users that signed up due to your dinosaur fishing expeditions. I only had to wait one day. Not sure how many hours. But it wasn't long at all. Well it seemed like a long time, due to my excitement to try it out, and jumping through all the hoops, and then to be told I had to wait. It was a tad annoying, as steemit itself didn't tell me I had to wait. It just was taking so long that I eventually started googling, because I thought I might have done something wrong. Instead of frantically trying again and again I just let it sit. I'm glad, because from my googling I saw that the very jack-hammering I was tempted to do, could actually be part of the problem. The system takes a while to set everything up, and it gets worse and worse the more new accounts are in line to get set up.
