My very first CNC router design which i like to share with you all

Hi all hobbyist out there, today I decided that I will publish my own CNC router design with BOM here in Steemit. This is my very first build of anything like this. I got help to learn Autodesk fusion 360 from my husband (which is why I also used his account to make this design while learning). I will also be building this router later on with his help of course, but I aim to do most of the things myself to learn about machines The thing is that originally I was thinking to sell this as DIY kit, but after some consideration I came to conclusions that why not just give it away here. Maybe it could pick the interest of other hobbyists too to join in Steemit. The design is made with Autodesk fusion 360 and it can be downloaded through given link, but it still needs minor tweaks and adjustements but I am still working on it so you can check it out anytime and download the model to yourself and even make your own modifications for it. The router is designed to be very cheap to be built (cheaper than the Chinese CNC6040 as comparison and much more rigid than it).

I also hope to get truly verified in steemit now ;)

Now let’s get to the router build itself ;) Router frame is made of 40x120 aluminium extrusions, 40x160 aluminium extrusion and from some aluminium pieces. The aluminium extrusions give it change to be very modular and you can easily build it bigger just having longer beams and also the price of extrusions is relatively small. Design also uses 1605 ballscrews, but this too can be easily swapped to for some cheaper alternatives, though you can get mentioned ballscrews with quite ok prices nowadays. Spindle is 1.5kw kit with VFD which provides enough power for even aluminium milling.  The electronics is designed to be inside chassis backside of the router so that machine would not need any external cabinet for control electronics. I will later provide blog from assembly of mentioned router as I have ordered parts for it already (as of 17/07/2016)

And for BOM I will keep it updated in following place:

I hope you enjoy my design... If people show interest of this then i surely will continue with pictures and instructions of my build progress.

Hi Joy, I'm in the process of going through all the diy cnc designs online right now, and stumbled upon yours. Received 60W CO2 Laser cutter/engraver from china a week ago, configured, and realized that there is no way it can replace the cnc. So I figured I'm going to use Laser to build my first CNC. And your plans look great. All the aluminum extrusions can be ordered at aliexpress and other stuff can be made from MDF (for starters) and then metal plates.
I was wondering if you have the DXF files.
What type of controller and motors are you planning on using?
Also, what's your estimated budget?
Do you have a list of all the parts required and maybe the URLs?

Sorry for a lot of questions, I've never built anything like this before and this is a learning experience from me.

And thanks for sharing. Eagerly waiting for your update.

Wow I just noticed after posting that the year is 2016, not 17 :)))
If there is an update or any full instructables on how to build this beauty, pleasee let me know! I would really appreciate it.

This is awesome! Thanks for posting!
