TIL: Do not use the [NotSafeForWork]-tag in Steemit textsteemCreated with Sketch.

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

Yesterday I wrote a long post taking care not include offensive images (as the subject of the post, the cartoonist Robert Crumb has made rather many offensive images). Unfortunately I wrote it in the text :

I have avoided offensive imagery [so this is not *nsfw], but the the portrayed comic-artist is in general not for children.

(couldn't find the exact phrase in the blockchain so the above is quoted from memory)

So even mentioning THE TAG in the plain text seem to make the post hidden...

and it does not seem possible to unhide it.

EDIT: Look at the comments! The friendly neighbourhood @pfunk has helped me purge and purify.

Your post is still marked as nsfw because putting the tag in the post body automatically filled an open position in the tag list. Try removing the nsfw tag and see if it's unmarked with those scarlet letters :)

I did try that, but it didn't seem to work. You know how hard the burn marks of offensiveness sticks.

Yours forever, Hester Prynne Katharsisdrill

You can't remove the nsfw tag from the tag field? Non-primary tags should be editable, and I think if it can't be edited it may be a bug. Double check please :D

AHH! I misunderstood you... and It's away... Now I really learned something today :)
(also removed a couple of actually quite naked nipples and replaced them with another image)

Thanks, mate!

If you include a tag with the # in the text, it is included in the tag list. Anyway, I read the post and enjoyed it. I am still working through the archive of another cartoon you mentioned, oglaf, whilst I wait for the next Phill. Cheltenham, Wales, it's all very close to home for me. Operation Julie?

Hmm... Didn't know that... so I really did learn something today.

Glad you like both Oglaf and Phill. Due to my chronic perfectionism I try to be as precise as possible, but to be honest I have never been to Cheltenham. I've been to Wales, Somerset and, Devon, but never to Gloustershire.

Oglaf is crazy good, but deliciously NSFW. I look forward to the day that fantastic comic artists discover Steemit and its soon-to-be many competitors.

Write to them and propose it...

Good to know I was planning on mentioning that tag in a list, I'll leave if out now. It was a joke but on second thoughts it wasn't even that funny. :)
