Microsoft is Live Streaming from Its Underwater Data Center in Scotland

in steemit •  6 years ago

Recently company of Microsoft has ordered the 12-meter data-center in the form of the iron tank from the French from Naval Group, has fastened the cooling system from the submarine there and has shipped on 36-meter depth near Orkineysky islands near Scotland.

The purpose of this unusual project which has received the name Project Natick will receive cheap cooling from cold undercurrents, having solved thus once and for all a problem of overheating of the data-centers.

The second stage of testing of the underwater equipment during which anyone will be able to observe storage of data under thickness of ocean water via online cameras on the website of the Project Natick project has now begun. But except obvious curiosity, engineers of Microsoft will collect important technical information: productivity indicators, energy consumption, etc.
