is it possible to create a platform like steemit on my own

i like the idea of steemit but i don't enjoy the platform as much i know its in the beta stage and i have high hope for the future but in the mean time i'd like to know how long would it take me create something like this

    you can use the steem/steemit source code from github and start your own social media platform, but you need a lot of programming skills and money to run a server.
