I don't know if it's ethic or not but It seems like Steemit doesn't have a problem with it. So if they don't mind it there is no need for you to mind it too. :)

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
