I had coffee with a mate of mine today and it made me realise how right Martin Luther King Jr. was.
Here was a guy (my mate - not MLK) who under 2 years ago had the career he was born for spit him out and turn it's back on him. No 'thank you' for the years of service he provided to the community or the countless lives he no doubt had a positive impact upon.
He was without a job or any formal qualifications but had a young family to support.
Instead of crawling up in a ball and letting life roll over the top of him he got up and got going. He threw himself into a new career.
Again, right before Christmas he was told by the General Manager of the company he was working for he was no longer required. Not through any fault of his own but because the company was going under.
Merry Fucking Christmas.
So what has he done?
He's kept on moving.
No fucking around.
He's adapted and overcome.
Instead of feeling sorry for himself he's positive about the opportunities that lie in front of him. Because of this attitude he isn't focused on how shit he's been treated. Instead, he's focused on the skills he can develop and the opportunities in front of him.
I'm excited for him. He's going to be a big success very soon. How do I know? Because he's got the right fucking attitude.
No matter what happens in life - KEEP MOVING FORWARD. You might just surprise yourself how far you get.
