Steemit University: Adding Value To Everyone!

Those of you that have seen my posts know that I am a strong advocate for high quality blogging and commenting. I truly believe that this will help build lasting value here on Steemit. I love what many of you have done here and I am constantly thinking about and searching for good ideas that we can use to add value.

Since blockchain technology can be used to create and store many things why not use Steemit as storage for valuable things such as University Theses that will be treasured by many both within and outside Steemit.

The idea would be for contributors to post a short summary of their thesis under the heading University Theses. The summary could then be voted on and in that way the author may receive a financial reward and become active here on Steemit while building a solid reputation. A link would then take those interested to the actual thesis. Yes there are other huge services such as Proquest but these are paid services and add value to their network not ours.

This same idea could also be used for other valuable things.

I have a Bachelor of Education in TESOL and would gladly upload my thesis: "Reaching the Adolescent Mind Through TESOL Education.

Questions:

Can a PDF file be uploaded here?

Could it be in the future? If not where?

How else can we Add value here?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks @kencode I've got great respect for your work. You are nothing short of prolific everyone should check out your work with blockpay which can been seen at your blog here on steemit.

I think it's a great idea!! Why don't you start with your thesis like you said and start that new category. You could post a Dropbox link or something.
Steemit really has the potential of being an information bank!

A big shout out to you @peter-parker for helping me with the logo that I used here. Simple quick and effective like all of your work!

I have read your comment on a post I think, you talking about images copyright if I'm right, as a blogger I can answer to your 2 first questions : PDF can not be uploaded here yet but it can be added, other way you can upload your PDF on other server like google drive and add the link on your post.
the last to question I think I can not answer after may failure on steemit .
Thank you for your post Sir

@ben99 I really enjoy your well thought out comments and glad to see this one up voted! That's a great way to build your reputation and value on Steemit?

Generally a great idea. The problem that I would see though is that a synopsis of a thesis will in most cases suffice to obtain the real world identity and affiliations of the respective steemian. I assume this will prevent many from handing in this kind of information.

You make a good point. Many here however are not posting in anonymity. Thanks for your input as I'm interested in all comments and ideas.

Great post and can't wait to see the results of this one. May the force stay with Steem and us all, all for one and one for all! Namaste :)

I'd love to see this happen, but direct file storage isn't steemit's strength IMHO..

What it does give us is an awesome web-of-trust and verification network where we can discuss/disseminate information and refer as needed to PDF files etc using IPFS hashes.

People can vouch for specific files as being safe+interesting by sharing the IPFS hash , and that specific hash will ALWAYS be safe and ALWAYS in the blockchain.

We just need a bunch of volunteer IPFS nodes to get things started, then it would work like a big torrent swarm ..

Thanks for your input. I did A search on the Steemit system and noticed quite a posts discussing IPFS. For example:

I like the idea! It would be a great innovation ;)

I think this is an excellent idea. I'm curious whether the Universities/Colleges would have issues or delight at the prospect of promoting themselves through the summaries. I'm thinking the latter.

Thanks for the reply. I also think that the' be delighted. In almost all cases a thesis is the property of the student unless the student was sponsored to write it. Posting it here is a win win!
