If you've been following you know that we have less than a week to get Windy roadworthy. If you haven't been following, here's the rundown
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Our first Con of the season is next weekend. I'm a speaker, so I have to be there early in the morning. We plan to leave early Friday and get some new tires put on on the way to Glen Rose.
This Saturday we won't be able to work on it because I have a table at an invitation-only Authors fairat the Public Library in Lewisville Texas. It's just far enough away from home to make it a day trip.
So, we've been hard at work. We ripped out the carpet yesterday. Man, was that funky! Twenty-year-old carpet in a motorhome that had water damage. Think about it. After removing the carpet, we painted the cowling carpet which couldn't be removed for a number of reasons.
All the furniture had to be moved. We kept as much as possible in the RV. No need to carry any further than necessary. When we get the floor down in the front, we'll replace the furniture (including the driver's seat) and continue to floor the back half. But we'll technically be ready to go to Glen Rose when we get the furniture back in place.
The upholstery paint (1 part paint 3 parts water mixed well) was very messy on the vertical surfaces of the cowling, but we didn't need to worry about spilling, so that helped it go pretty quickly.
We wanted to leave the carpet on the cowling because it will help muffle the sound from the engine and because we couldn't think of a way to attach the flooring, especially around all those curves. The paint seems to be a good choice and will match the window treatments painted with the same color.
This next picture shows how very much there is to be done. Per a suggestion from @negativer on a previous post we are putting down a plank vinyl flooring. The color is called Khaki Oak. I'll take pics Sunday.
You can see that with the sofa removed, I can get to the wall to finish painting the bottom quarter. I mopped the wood down with bleach this morning to combat any mold that we couldn't see, but knew could be there. Now we wait for that to dry and then start putting in the vinyl wood look flooring. I'll post again with the after pics of that. I think it's going to be one of the more dramatic changes we've made yet.
Luck, be a lady this week!!!!!
Looking good!
Make sure that floor is as flat as possible. Not a whole lot you can do sometimes, but those vinyl planks are pretty thin. A 'ridge' of subfloor can start to feel pretty noticeable over time, and a low spot or dip in the floor will eventually get annoying too :)
You're really going all out with this. Great project!
