Steemit - Fakers Being Fake, and Staying True to the Platform

Finding the true users, and avoiding the deceivers

The Angels of Deception by Michael Lang - image fineartamerica.com

In my adventures around Steemit I have heard and read some really fascinating stuff. I have met some really interesting people. And I have learned some really interesting things.

I have however also noticed some real rubbish, especially in the comments section.
Examples as follows

  • copy and paste comments
  • posting in a language someone doesn't speak (I connect with a lot of Spanish users and frequently see a lot of this)
  • plagiarism - although I must say there are some users who are really onto keeping this in check, and I have seen some pretty epic take downs of fakers
  • a rise in hot girl butt spam .....haha butt spam

This of course detracts from the herculean efforts of the community to make this a place of intellectual and artistic exchange. I believe if we can keep up our standards the spam types will not be able to get a foothold here.

As we all know the core rules of Steemit are

  • be genuine
  • make real content
  • attribute other people's work if you use it
  • engage with your fellow users in a real way
  • be consistent and patient
  • be in it for the community and the money will come

Steem often, Steem hard, Steem genuinely, and Steem on my friends

:D This should be new official term for that type of spam

Haha! Let's make it a new thing!

Good thoughts. Lets not trash the place up any more than we have to! Personally some people like to make a billion posts but I think I'd always upvote quality over quantity. Take care.

Always a good policy

As a newcomer to the community, I've found it difficult to sift through some the spam, bots, and fakers. It makes getting started a bit discouraging. Luckily, connecting with genuine users like yourself, has been helpful and encouraging! Great points! Keep up the good work :)

Thanks! Keep on Steeming and good things will happen :)

Excellent post. Quality will prevail once copy-paste stops being rewarded. Best of luck!:)

Thank you! Quality will win in the end, I think part of the problem is the proliferation of new users not putting much thought into what they do, got to have those critical lenses on always!

Hi @larksongbird. Interesting observation, I didn't know there were unsavory things happened around the community. Lucikly, there are generous people acting as our guardians. Thank you for the good work, really appreciative!

@larksongbird
Nice Job!
Keep the good work up!
Thanks for sharing

As someone who's only been on Steemit for several days now- I have to say these bots, butt spam, and fake posters are rather disconcerting. But it's cool.

Like you said, the genuine, good-quality posts have been keeping me here.. and don't get me wrong there's tons of it to discover. :) Having faith in the technology and the community will be enough to make us stand out.

If we build it, they will come.....

I couldn't agree MORE! The key to being successful in SteemIt is to be authentic - share valuable content and engage with other members. The rewards will come if the focus is set correctly.

Amen, Steem on @jannell !

Many here are not Real Slim Shadies.
