It's just common sense, guys.

If you believe in common sense, you will support these proposed changes to the Steem Economy. If you don't support these changes, you are anti-common-sense.

As any Steemer with an ounce of intelligence has noticed, the Steemit economy has vast wealth inequality. The .001% of Steemers (the Robber Whales) own 99.99% of the Steem Power. They cash out 97.99% of the Steem Dollars. And they post .00000000001% of the content. All while the 99.99% of Steemers (the Minnow Class) does all the dirty work, carries the whole system on our burdened shoulders, and what do we have to show for it? PENNIES worth of Steem. PENNIES, I tell you.

I just pulled those statistics out of my ass, but they are real.

Anyway, the numbers aren't the point. The point is that the time has come for the Minnows to rise up and demand our fair share! Let's be clear. Steemit is on its way to economic ruin if we don't do something to make this platform a more equitable income source for ALL.

To that end, I have created a list of suggestions for how to fix the Steem economy.

1. Seize the Means of Production

I don't know exactly what the means of production are in this case, but we should definitely think about seizing them. Since the product of Steemit is Steem, there's probably like some steem mining equipment that we can take from the Robber Whales and put it to work to make a better future for our children. Or, wait--is the content on Steemit.com the product? Well, in that case, we should sieze all the content generating equipment (the laptops and cameras and so on), then we (the Minnow Class) will own the means of production.

2. Divide the Profit in an Equitable Manner.

Obviously, the way the profit is currently divvied up is not equitable. But it also would not be equitable to divide it equally among all of us. After all, there are those among us who--for reasons of extreme physical fitness, mental competence, or access to resources--are capable of doing the work of several others. These Steemers will always be able to do more work to make more Steem, so they should keep less of the Steem they make. The excess will, of course, be distributed to those of us who are not capable of producing as much. This way, even if you create shitty content, you will still be assured of a basic income to keep your living standard up to par. It's just common sense, guys. If we don't provide for the less able among us, those people will be a net drag on our Steem economy by not providing for themselves.

3. Free Education for Steemers' Dependents

What is the point of having a massively successful project like Steemit if the children of the people who break their literal backs to keep it going don't even have access to basic education? A portion of the total Steem mined should be set aside to teach the children. Also, we should start a teacher draft, wherein each Steemer is required to devote one month out of every year to teaching the children of other Steemers. We can set it up so that the lectures are delivered via Steemit posts. In order to make sure the children are gaining all the benefit possible from this project, we should make attendance compulsory.

4. Work Assignments

In order to make Steemit the best virtual society in the world, it is important that we make sure that each Steemer has important work to do. At the same time, it is crucial that Steemit can outcompete other social media platforms. So we will have to have a panel of Steemers whose job it is to ensure all Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter content is reproduced on Steemit. This panel will also have the responsibility of assigning post topics to each individual Steemer. The best way to do this would probably be through some kind of lottery.

5. Content Lines

We also need to address the issue of access to quality Steemit posts. Since we will probably have to make cutbacks in our server functions in order to provide for the education and redistribution initiatives, not all of the posts will be available for everyone to look at all the time. We will issue each Steemer a digital voucher booklet, which will allow them access to the content on Steemit. There may be wait times as we perfect this new system, but we will endure through our revolutionary spirit. Utopia doesn't come without a struggle.
