How to Deal With Plagiarism on Steemit

How to Handle.jpg

Just as I went to go to bed last night a friend messaged me with a link to this post which directly ripped off photos of my pet chicken meep while the original post was still active without my permission or credit given. My first thought was to laugh but this morning I decided it was probably worth doing something out, even if just a comment and a downvote.

Having recently joined the steemcleaners discord I decided to ask there how to handle the problem. I got a proper response in the abuse channel, where GuiltyParties asked what was stolen. All it took was me sharing the two links....

I clearly found the response hilarious.

But what I really appreciated was the fact that it was a handled issue and it wasn't like I was rooting around on Steemit looking. A friend had noticed they promoted the post in a group I also promote mine in, something which I found funny.

It doesn't pay to steal people's shit. My issue is not so much that the content was taken, it was done so while the post was active with literally no credit given to me despite the fact that I spent like an hour on that post editing photos to show Meep's true colors. There was no asking for permission, no "hey, I totally stole this from @lily-da-vine, go to her page for more, no it seemed like a pitiful attempt to milk pennies from the system.

Thanks to @guiltyparties for helping with the situation! If you find your content has been or is being ripped off, don't hesitate to report that shit!

Unfortunately people will try to exploit this platform. It's up to the community to deal with it, but we have some organised efforts that are doing a great job. Good to hear this instance was dealt with and I hope they learned a lesson.

Yeah it's one of those things where it's good to remember there are certain things that can be done to deal with these things

Take a look at 'her' account now.
I was supporting it.

Yes this instance made me question the legitimacy of any of "her" content. Especially with the format of the clearly stolen post not differing from "her" normal style.

The different girls in the pics made me suspicious, and when i saw you got ripped off, i knew.

Thanx for helping the community , up voted.

And followed.

Got a question ,

Also when I add a photo , some bible guys , spam for up votes , with wierd profile names -a-a-a
And all kind of weird names ,
Usually they got -7 .

Is it legal , how can I get read of them ?

theres no 'rules' here its up to the community to decide. Most spam gets downvoted over time and dissapears. If its clearly spam or scam then downvote it and move on

Yeah basically when people upvote for upvote me I generally downvote, unless its on another platform them I ignore.

sometime i try and educate them that this wont help them on Steemit but i feel the majority dont want to hear it

Many are honestly bots.

@lily-da-vine
It hurts a lot when you work so hard on something and someone just steal you content without asking the author and acts in front of the community that that for this work the whole credit goes to her.
You taught a good lesson to her.

Yeah the idea is to show that it's not okay to rip people's stuff off, I would not have cared if she mentioned they were my chickens or mentioned me anywhere in the post.

@lily-da-vine Yeah you are absolutely right.
Maybe she got a lesson from this

Nasty behaviour! Im glad you are sharing this, so we can help to detect and prevent such things in the future.Resteemed.

Part of it was @guiltypleasures response was so funny it made it worth turning the situation into a post.

You're very welcome.

Your response was awesome lol

Justice has been served for Meep and her not-babies.
