My insight.
Steemit is a huge game changer regarding social networking with a bright future ahead. It allows a user to use their stake in order to reward another user for their efforts substantially or to flag inappropriate, plagiarized or overvalued content. This concept is what gives Steemit its extraordinary beauty from my humble point of view.
Rewarding hard working users for their original, quality content will drive the platform, and therefore Steem's price, to the moon! If users are actually and practically rewarded for offering knowledge and technical information, then that would motivate them to work even harder and this would undoubtedly attract new creators to the platform. That would mean more SP, more upvotes and more traffic which in return would mean more rewards and so on! Needless to say that would attract even more new users... It's like a snowball effect, once this starts happening then we will be about to witness exponential growth for Steem.
Using one's SP in order to flag content is also another reason why Steemit is beautiful, again from my humble point of view. I believe the option is in place in order to serve the platform's best interests by ensuring that Steemit has to offer top quality original content. Furthermore, I believe this option is available to guarantee that the reward pool is fairly distributed. It's the perfect way to make sure that less powerful users who have to offer significant technical information and knowledge aren't discouraged to keep building Steemit.
After all, we are building the biggest blockchain based library here in case you didn't notice! Soon (if not already) the world's biggest search engines will be redirecting users to Steemit. Steemit does not only attract Steem holders, it also attracts random internet users searching stuff on their computers. Can you imagine what it would possibly mean for Steem and Steemit if people visited this wonderful platform every day just to get information? I suppose this is something that's already happening at the moment given the vast amounts of information about cryptocurrency available on Steemit! If Steemians keep feeding this platform with pure knowledge and valuable technical information and analysis it will cause Steem's price to explode!
The whole cryptocurrency thing is still at its infancy stage as the cryptocurrency market capitalization equals 0,57 trillion USD while all bank currency in circulation equals roughly 2 quadrillion USD. Do the math and it's obvious that there's plenty of room for growth. I believe that 2018 will be the year when the masses will join in and altcoins are going to explode. At the moment, most trading websites are having a hard time handling the current surge in new users with many of them taking months to verify accounts and others having disabled new member registrations.
So can you imagine what that means for Steemit given the fact that it's currently probably the best place to get information on cryptos? The masses are still ignorant and uneducated concerning cryptocurrency and Steemit is a huge blockchain based library full of precious information that is demanded! Spread the word! Direct all those people that want to learn about or get involved with crypto to Steemit. All of us would benefit from making Steemit famous, especially the blockchain itself. It's a free library for everyone to use! Maybe one day people will have access to free, life saving information here on Steemit and that's what I love about it the most; it empowers the user. It promotes liberty.
The way this whole platform was designed encourages the production of quality content. If you put in effort and provide something useful, you get rewarded. As a result, you try even harder to provide even better content next time and that's a huge benefit not only for the platform but also for society. This gives you a feeling of justice and fulfillment and it's the very first time in my life I experience such a feeling thanks to a web platform. All of my family members and friends now know about Steemit.
I made a story about how we as individual users can help push Steem to the moon, you can check it out here:

"It empowers the user. It promotes liberty." YES!
The users who have the 'get rich quick mentality' will not reap the rewards this platform potentially offers. As you state, it's about curating quality information based off of your own experiences, knowledge, and skillset. Be creative, be who you truly are.
Government and the corporate world are fearful of this rapid, decentralized sharing economy. AI, automation, and 'superintelligence' are the catalysts for this rapid change.
I believe as a society, we need to rethink what is purposeful; to ourselves, to our loved ones, and to the world. It's all about learning from each another, paying attention, and connecting to other people which is what Steemit aims to do.
Thanks for your thoughtful insight, and of course Steem on!

I could not agree more! I am struggling with a paradox as a new Steemian. I wrote to it in a comment just above (or bellow) this comment - if you care to look. So I will not repeat :)

I have been having an internal debate as a new Steemian. How much effort should I put into my contract while my following is small and therefor the viewership of my post??? I want to create quality content, and I have been a good amount of energy into some but not all of my posts, but I also don't want to use my best stuff and put hours into a post that will get 3 upvotes and $0.02. Do I slowly up the quality of my content as my following increases? Or do I hit it hard from the beginning and risk burnout as the rewards will not yet be there? I am also spending a lot of time engaging and leaving quality comments on posts to strengthen relationships. What are your thoughts on this paradox?

@jonpetrich Hi there! Thank you for your comment!
I would advise you to just be yourself and create quality, original content! You can invest some of your earned SBD in order to get your posts promoted and that way you could gather your followers. Once you have got a crowd of people following you, you will start feeling even more motivated to produce quality material.
Spending time to leave thoughtful comments works as well on Steemit. If you can give them a piece of your mind that they find helpful then people will reward you! And then you will feel great! Especially when whales reward you all of a sudden!
Hope this comment helps!

Decent post, but Steem is so much more than just steemit. When smart contracts get implemented I think we will start seeing a taste of it. On top of decentralized apps and other contracts, a fee-less transaction system adds so many capabilities in terms of data or information storage. You can start running a database service that is backed by the steemit blockchain in theory, that opens doors for a lot of potential in itself. and we haven't even got creative yet.
Plus with ripple cruising really high today, think what happens when a service allows banks to do the exact same thing but with no fee. A LOT of steem is gonna get bought up for that idea if someone gets it out there successfully to the big money transmitters in the world.
LONG STEEM

@paced.financial Thank you for leaving a thoughtful comment. I appreciate your support.
I do realize and totally agree that Steem is so much more than just Steemit and that it could easily explode given all of its technical advantages. We just need to make sure we spread the word!
