I can see that SBD has a value of approximately 10 USD at the moment, however my estimated account value won't go up accordingly when I claim my SBD rewards. Can anybody offer advice based on knowledge of the platform and its uses?

Ok people, I figured it out!
You can visit the platform's market where you can exchange SBD/STEEM or STEEM/SBD and therefore you can trade your SBD for STEEM there, in order to use STEEM to power up your account. However the market cap is going up right now so I don't know whether you should exchange it now, wait to do it later or just HODL.
That's entirely up to you and your intuition.
