Blockchain use case for instant messaging
Kik is an instant messaging (IM) app that is really popular with a user base of 15 million people. The app is especially used by 13 - 24 year olds.
A while back Kik experimented with an in-app payment system called Kik Rewards. It was so popular that the experiment proved the viability of a cryptocurrency within the Kik app. Hence, Kin was born.
The Kin (KIN) token is an Ethereum ERC-20 compatible token. Users can earn Kin by spending their attention. Each user profile has a Kin wallet installed by default. In this sense, KIN is similar to Steemit in that curators of content will earn rewards in a cryptocurrency.
Instead of the company making all the profits, content creators are equally rewarded.
The KIN currency can also be spent inside the Kik IM app for digital products and premium content.
