PSA: Direct Messaging Etiquette - Please Stop Sending Promotional Posts

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm not one to rant normally but things have gotten out of hand lately! In the past week, I've received over a dozen promotional messages with links in the direct message feature of steemit.chat!

Now, I'm all for post promotion. It's a great way to share your articles and get greater attention. But save those links for the promotion channels! I consider privately contacting someone and clogging their inbox with links to be very rude!

Here are some links that may help if you want to promote your posts:

Alright rant over! Have fun and go nuts!

Agreed. I absolutely hate how much I've been direct messaged lately. That method of promotion seems to have really taken off in the last couple of weeks.

It doesn't make me want to vote for you when you spam me with links. It makes me want to flag you.

Exactly! I don't flag yet because I know that new Steemians may not understand and they are just trying to get upvotes, but it is still rather annoying!
