Steemit: The Killer App For Blockchain Mass Adoption (my RESTfest 5 in 5 talk)

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

This past weekend, I attended RESTfest for the 5th year in a row. It's an amazing conference with some of the brightest minds in the API space. These people write the books and develop the specifications for the API technology developers around the world use. The cool thing about RESTfest is everyone who attends gives a talk. This year, I did something a little different. Instead of talking about my API or patterns I'm seeing in the API space, I talked about Steemit. I even wore my Steemit T-Shirt. :)

It's just under 8 minutes long. I hope you enjoy it!

The response I got from those in attendance was really positive. There were also some fun Twitter conversations that continued after the conference was over.

This is an exciting technology, and I for one am happy to be a part of it.

Love it, I hope we see a lot more presentations like this creeping into the web development world. This technology (from the perspective of a web dev) is so incredibly exciting and different than what we've been doing for the past 20+ years. Having talks at conferences will hopefully get other developers excited too, much more than any other crypto ever has.

Thanks @jesta! I completely agree. I feel the same way about this technology. The great thing about the RESTfest videos is they live on for a long time and many people go back through them later. The attendees every year are really some of the most incredible API developers out there.

Oh, and thanks for resteeming it! :)

Love all you guys for everything you have sacrificed to bring us closer together through the divine power of love :) Namaste~! Look forward to meeting everybody @steemfest

great talk luke, very to the point. helps me also with the way to explaining steemit. thx!

Thanks @roelandp!

actually, i did a lil presentation at TodaysArt Festival last saturday and didn't bother explaining Steem, instead just played the 2 first minutes of your RESTfest vid :) My video of that video (and the rest) is (not yet) live.

Hahah! no way. That's awesome. Thanks @roelandp :)

You are a nice speaker! Looking forward to see you on the Steem Festival, and why not hear a presentation there from you! (?)

Thanks @liondani. I want to go to Steem Festival, but I haven't been able to convince @corinnestokes yet. It's a lot of money to fly from the U.S. and get a hotel and such, so she's not too fond of the idea. She runs the budget like a well-oiled machine and I love her for it... but I still want to go. :)

I'd love to give talks in the crypto space. I haven't been to a crypto conference yet, but I will eventually.

Great speech man! Love it, short and sweet to get people interested...

Thank you!

thank you for spreading the word!

Thanks for all the work you're doing also, @cristi! Great appreciated.

Did the audience get excited?

Yes! I had a lot of great conversations afterwards and during lunch times.

How many already knew about Steemit?

I don't think anyone did.

Amazing!

Good job Luke. Way to go on getting this out there. I look forward to more and more people coming to steemit and/or the steem blockchain.

Thanks @dwinblood. Me too :)

Great job man!

Thanks for resteeming it!

Awesome talk. Were there any more questions from them afterward ?

I had a lot of conversations about it through the conference. At one point during lunch, a friend was selling someone else on it and pulled me in so I could add more details. It was pretty fun. There was also a company there in the same space who had a team member in attendance and I had a great conversation with their founder over lunch. He was really excited about it, taking notes and such.

Rest and vest.

Great piece and thanks for sharing. Happy to upvote and share this on Twitter✔ for my followers to read. Cheers. Stephen

Thanks for sharing, Stephen!

No problem it's my pleasure. Cheers. Stephen

An impressive show of the Cooperative Agorist ideal. Great work Luke!

Regret I WHICH MAY NOT YOU AGAIN!

Have you ever heard the saying that says,

"Regret always comes at the end. If in the beginning, it's called Registration ..."

I wonder who it was that his name goes, but the statement is true.

Just like when I used to not know "malignancy" STEEMIT that can change the thinking I'm like the earth and sky.

Yes, since the study of this science, I am better able to control your thoughts and emotions I controlled rather than vice versa (by thoughts and emotions I myself).

And after studying this, I was so much easier to design what kind of life I wanted. JOSS! image

I'm not sure if it's a language barrier problem, but I really have no idea what you're saying here.

Thank you for you. forgive me for the language limitations I have, but to be honest I want to be better and will keep trying

Great job Luke, and great explanation!

Thank you!
