Hey authors, are you selling your books on Kindle?  If not you’re missing out. If you were to only sell a few copies a day of a small book, you could still be earning upwards of $100 or more per month in passive income. But what if your book becomes a best seller? You could earn a lot more.

So let me give you a few tips to make your next Kindle book a best seller:

1. Choose a topic that is people want to read. Pick a subject in health, romance or finance, and then narrow  it down. For example,  if the subject is aging, you might choose “How to Feel Young After 60”. “Finding True Love after a messy divorce”, or “ How to retire comfortably” could all be good titles.

2. Think about writing a whole series of books about the same topic. As an example, you might write a series on how to begin and operate a business online. You could include books in this series about how to pick a proper niche. How to get started, how to set up your business, how to create a product etc. More subjects could include how to set up a website, how to create or find the right products to sell and so on. You get the idea!   Each book should be unique, but also work in harmony with the others. This way, you’ll be able to get can get you many customers, and those customers would continue to come back for more books in your series.    After your series is complete, you might consider bundling them all together into one money saving collection. At the beginning of each of your books, let them know they can have the ability to get all the books in at one time, and save money too.

3. At the risk of sounding too obvious, you should make your book interesting. Of course you’ll want to write about something people are interested about. Writing about the mating habits of earthworms probably won’t get to be a hit on anybody’s best seller list.

You need to captivate the reader with an interesting story  that holds readers spellbound. That’s the formula for a bestseller.  Often the best selling books are those that pick a hot topic and then weave a story around it. For example, the trials and tribulations of Mary as she goes went through a tough divorce yet still managed to lose 50 pounds. There you've got a book on weight loss as well as how she worked through some tough times..

4. Create a professional looking book cover. A book with a cover that looks like a New York best seller is much more likely to become a best seller.  You might want to try  Amazon’s  free cover creator in the KDP dashboard. Try it – it’s simple to use, and some people are having great results with it. Also you can’t bet the price, it’s free.

5. Make a compelling author page.  When a person goes to your author's page they should find text that compels them to buy your books. Build credibility and make it entertaining. “Mary and her cat Felix are the premier gardeners of Seattle Washington. She is best known for her beautiful and unique roses. She is a contributing editor for Gardening Today magazine and has won over 40 various gardening awards.

 6. Get your prospect involved early.  The book description is a mini-sales letter for you. Also if you didn’t already know,  Kindle users can actually read the first 10% of your book online for free. Then they can decide whether or not they want to buy it and read the rest. Be sure to make the first 10% captivating with a benefit laden table of contents.

 7. Your title should immediately capture the reader’s attention. Make a big, bold promise that people find irresistible. This is the same as writing a headline for a sales letter or blog post.

In summary, marketing your Kindle book is just like any other form of marketing, It will take some effort to get results. You can't just slap any old book up there and expect results. But with the right effort, you can create a nice little passive income that brings in money month after month.
