Petition for GUI improvments to STEEMIT :)

Hi all,

  We all love steemit as a community I am sure but in my opinion (and others), steemit and therefore its backed currencies are being held back in terms of uptake by the masses due to one simple problem:

The archaic user interface of steemit.

With this in mind, I think it's important we let the steemit developers know just how importantly we feel about it and what we feel should be done, we are living on borrowed time here before another crypto creeeps out with the functionality of steemit and then wipes the floor with steemit based purely on a better GUI which will pull the masses to it rather than steemit.

My proposal would be to create a design that is still clean but mirrors some of the functionality of steemit's competitors.

I think integrated private/group chat is a must, this could easily be layered into the blockchain backend.

The groups/tags system needs to change as well, at the very least we need the ability to see the list of 'tags' at the point of submitting a new 'story' < this should also be called 'article', not story.

In short, the user should be able to see everything they need to see to get the job done; from the page they are on, without having to open new tabs in order to remind themselves of tag names, this seems a small problem, but to a new user, especially a low tech user, it would stop them dead in their tracks, they would have no idea what a tag is, what to enter, where the list is etc.  these things matter.

As stated, these things must happen and in a fairly short time frame, so first let's get the consensus down and then we (I am happy to collate, document and present this) can draft a proposal which can then be presented to steemit.  I am new to steemit, but heavily invested in it as I believe in it.  

I have had over 30 years development and architecture experience and it pains me greatly to see something with this level of potential that is frankly being held back by poor GUI design.

As stated, we are on borrowed time here, other people will have seen this flaw and will be working toward their goals.

So, could all steem folk, please take a few minutes to jot down in the comments where they feel the flaws lie regarding the steemit GUI and once we have enough consensus I will draft a proposal and post it here for all to see and then push it up the chain to high command! :)
