Last week I introduced steemit to a friend of mine and told him the story around it a little and he decided to give it a try.
I'll give you a summary of the experience he shared with me, knowing that it was his first intro into crypto.
FIrst we made an account on his smartphone and he manually entered the password for verification.
Flawless without a typo, even I was amazed !
After reading some stuff he noticed he would be better of being a girl.
I already was considering some professional transformation by this moment being a user for some weeks now and seeing dollars flow to male opposites en masse.
When I told he could style his messages with markdown he was like: 'oh this is more for you computer guys and not for regular people'.
I told him it is really simple and after 10min he'll know most basics but this couldn't convince him. He is a studied person so the problem definitely doesn't lie there, but it's more about user friendliness.
Another thing we noticed after opening a message in the stream and going back is that we could start scrolling all over to where we left. (Iphone experience, dunno about others).
Then he asked where he could find me so he could follow me.
I decided to give him the url option but yeah who's expecting that.
I told him the platform is still young and enhancements probably will follow in the coming months.
Maybe its not the purpose of steemit to follow each other, I dunno, no problem to me but many others like it i can imagine.
Also he asked if he could download the app in place of using the browser to access the posts.
All by all he liked the idea but there's somewhat a learning curve for completely new users.
SBD, Steem power, Steem, Bitcoin, exchanging etc. it all seems normal for us but not for most out there yet.
He decided he will probably use it in a half year or so when the system is more mature, leaving it for what it is now.
So summary:
- Secure copy/paste verification password.
- Steemit hospitals for male transformation.
Trans-gender will work also and is probably cheaper so special steem-transform coupons for those willing to keep it simple. - Markdown in the belly for most out there. (keep it optional for those who like it)
- Following/Finding/Messaging each other.
- Android/Iphone/Windows apps.
- Easing the learning curve around crypto.
yep the app i forgot in my list. that would be very convenient to have steemit app.
there are 3rd party apps out there, but i wont trust my credentials to a 3rp party
