Some news on SteemVoter.com

fb-steem24bb4.png

First of all, I want to thank you all for enjoying my steem voting bot website. I was expecting a lot of hate, but nope, none. Thank you so much for all the appreciation.

Currently

There were a few bugs that have been flushed out and some clarifications made on the site. I had to reset everyone's voting rules because people were not monitoring it and might not have understood due to my lack of clarity. I also fixed some signup clarity issues and since then, no one seems to be having problems signing up.

I apologize for the lack of clarity and hope it is better now.

Other than fixing the few bugs, I added a blog section for the posts I make about SteemVoter.com so people can refer to them and gain extra information.

Future

Many have made recommendations on future voting rule capabilities, and I plan on making a lot of changes and improvements there. I have a set of goals to reach before I make any major improvements, because it is nice to see people using it BEFORE doing a lot more work on the system.

So if you like the idea, and want to see it grow, help me spread it and you will be happy with the changes I make.

More Clarifications

I wrote on the site that I would be charging my users 1 vote per day. Well, that isn't happening yet. I haven't actually decided how this will work, it really depends on my users.

The options are as follows:

  • Charge one vote per day on whatever I want (will make sure it is quality).
  • Charge one vote per day on a random post that uses #steemvoter tag.
  • Charge one or two votes per week (randomly on #steemvoter tag or I sell the votes or use them on quality articles).
  • Ask for donations.

If donations start coming in, perhaps I will keep it free. But and this is a big but, the benefit to the early adopters of the vote per day is HUGE because they will get all the curation rewards of all the non-early adopters. This gives a very big incentive to sign up to SteemVoter.com.

This is a tool for you guys and I want you guys to enjoy it and be a happy user. So please let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Just remember, if you want the site to keep improving, I need to benefit too :)

Thanks everyone and I am looking forward to the discussions.

And this is with any change I want to make, pass, accounts, etc. Maybe you know why or can check it out? Tried with Chrome and SRWare Iron(chromiun version) Thanks for ll the work you have done til now. Cheers

Works, cool! Will check out the rules!

:) Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Be careful, loose voting rules will cause you to lose your voting power :) I will be writing a post on this soon.

Yeah! :)

A couple future upgrades I could think of on the spot. (Also something I have been searching for lately) would be to add a minute timer to authors and when to vote on them, so that I could change that manually on each and every one of them.

Thanks for the initiative and effort!

So you can put an author and say upvote their posts after 10 min, instead of as soon as the bot sees it?

So, just to make certain I understand: the bot will vote for a post from someone on your list as soon as it sees it? And the "Up Vote on Other Posts" rules apply to posts from all users not on your list? If that's the intent, then you definitely need to introduce timing rules for the people on your list. An easy first step would be to have the timing rules in the "Up Vote on Other Posts" section simply apply to all votes, and make "Up Vote on Other Posts" a yes/no checkbox. That would be far less confusing. Being able to choose when to place a vote is important for strategies that try to optimize curation rewards.

Regarding the various options for earning a return on your site: you definitely deserve compensation for this, and whatever scheme you decide on, make sure it's something that will reward you enough so you feel incentivized to continue development. This site is really amazing and has lots of potential, so I really hope it gets developed to the fullest extent possible. I would happily pay a few SBD per month as a donation, since I expect the increase in curation rewards from using your bot would more than cover that. I'm also perfectly fine with you using one of my votes in whatever way you see fit.

the benefit to the early adopters of the vote per day is HUGE because they will get all the curation rewards of all the non-early adopters.

How do you imagine this working? As more people start using the bot, presumably there would be more posts using #steemvoter as well, so not sure what the benefit to early adopters would be.

Hey, Thanks, glad you like it, and thanks for the recommendations. I definitely hope I get to develop this to its full potential. If I use everyone's vote per day (the one as payment) to reward a single random #steemvoter tagged post. They are done in order of account registration, so the early voters on that random #steemvoter post will benefit huge from all the other voters after it.

I am not sure the benefit of timing the votes on certain users you like. Because, wouldn't you want to be one of the first voters? For the other posts, the timing makes sense because you don't want to vote on every post, just the ones that seem to be trending.

Thanks for the clarification regarding #steemvoter , yeah that makes sense.

Regarding timing of votes, it's my understanding that the percentage of the curation reward that goes to you vs. the post author varies according to when you vote, especially if you vote within the first 30 minutes. If you vote immediately, most of the curation reward goes to the author. If you vote closer to the 30 minute mark, more of it goes to you. So many people will wait 30 minutes before voting to maximize the percentage they get. However there's some strategy in it. Wait too long and you give others the chance to vote before you. So more sophisticated bots will vote earlier, but the trick is not to be too early. You have to find just the right balance. And you might want to tweak your strategy for individual authors based on the history of how people / bots have voted for them before.

For the other posts, the timing makes sense because you don't want to vote on every post, just the ones that seem to be trending.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around these timing rules. Let's say I set no voting before 20 minutes, no voting after 60 minutes in the other votes part. Then wouldn't every single published post get voted on as soon as it's been live for 20 minutes? Which should drain all my voting power pretty fast given that during busy times new stuff gets posted just about every minute or so.

Ahhh I didn't know that about voting right away. I will look into that.

The Other Posts sections is like a window, vote on posts that have already X votes between 20 min and 60 min. So if a post never gets X votes before 60 min, you will not vote on it. I understand I really need to clarify all the voting rules stuff, and I will in my next big push when I reach more users. The problem is that I have had a voting bot for several months, so the way I think about it is different than new people.

Thanks for helping me understand how others see things.

Okay, I think I'm clear on how the Other Posts section works now. I appreciate you being so responsive and willing to clarify all these points. Glad the discussion has been useful for you too!

You rock, buddy and I do hope I will be the first to get the #steemvoter tag votes.

Thanks man, you might not benefit from being one of the first, unless a lot more people sign up. So far its going really well. I need to start deciding on the next set of improvements.

how do i contact u? mine does not appear to be working?

the email [email protected] is on the website to contact us. Again, there was a short black out. I apologize.

apologies couldnot see contact details

this is not working?--i set it up and nothing-even though those that i follow have posted multiple times in fact

There was a short black out with the script. (about 16 hours long) One of my servers went down and I didn't get alerted. I have upgraded things since. Please give it another chance.

Has this been resolved yet? I've tried toggling my voting rules off / on but it still doesn't seem to be working. It would be neat if there was a little server health indicator on the web site, like a green light to indicate all is well, and a red one when it's offline for maintenance or some issue.

Thanks so much for notifying me. There was an error in my script that turned off many accounts (including my main account). It should be fixed now. Please keep me posted if you have any other issues.

It looks like it started working but then stopped again a few hours ago (unless I've already hit my 40 vote limit for the day - and if you're going to keep that limit it would be nice to get a notification when it's hit).

Looking into this. Looks like your account hasn't been working, but others has. I apologize for this. I will investigate and reply again here once I know what is going on.

I set it up last week but don't see where it's done anything. Can you please take a peek to see what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Sorry, just saw this now. We have updated the system, and I see votes on your account.

Sorry I didn't message back, yes it's been working like a champ, thank you.

SteemVoter.com sounds like a good idea @marcgodard!

Going to have to try this

hi, so are you only limited to 23 bots but if you go premium you have to pay $3sbd?

Thanks for the clarification regarding #steemvoter
