200.000 YouTube Subscribers v.s. 325 Followers on Steemit! Which Is Better?

in steemit •  6 years ago

I have over 210.000 subs on Youtube and 325 followers on Steemit but which amount serves me better, and which platform serves you, my followers better?

As always you can watch the short video, read the blog or do both:

Criteria

When it comes to deciding how 'well' I'm doing on a platform I like to look at 3 criteria; Exposure, Interaction and Earnings. To be honest I would rather not have income in the list, but hey creating content online is my full-time job so I have to earn my salary and therefore it is included.

Btw, keep in mind my piano youtube channel with over 200K subs is in a different niche than my Steemit blogs.

Exposure

Whether you want to spread a message, or get leads for your sales-funnel, getting exposure on social media is essential to online entrepreneurs and companies. With exposure I mean, how many people are actually viewing your content. Let's dive straight into the numbers, on YouTube I get an average of 1300 views in the first 7 days on Steemit so far my posts have been getting over 200 views on average in 7 days most of them over 300. Keep in mind, on YouTube you may expect more views later whereas on Steemit after 7 days your blog is very far dawn on the trending pages. Yet most YouTubers see the highest number of views in the first week, depending on the niche. This is different for my niche, the piano niche :)

Important:

In the table below I show actual numbers and percentages based on followers. Example: if let's say 2000 people view my youtube videos, I will say 2000 views, 1 in 100 watches. Therefore: 200/1%

Amount per Post in 7 DaysYoutubeSteemit
Followers212.536326
Views1300/0.61%200/61.3%
Likes/Votes (bot corrected)49.5/0.02%115/35.3%
Comments (bot corrected)6.8/0.003%29.8/9.14%
Earnings (bot corrected)$1.6/$0.0000075$25.4/$0.07

Interaction

As we can see Steemit is slaughtering YouTube even with absolute amounts, let alone the average amounts per follower. The interaction on Steemit compared to YouTube is just of the charts. 35% of my Steemit followers like my posts versus 0.02% on Youtube. 9.14% of my followers on Steemit comment, and the comments are of higher quality and longer, versus 0.003% on Youtube.

Earnings

And in the earnings section I mean, come on YouTube I'm earning more than 10X more on Steemit per post, with almost 1000 times less followers. $0.07 per follower on Steemit compared to $0.0000075 per follower on YouTube.

Conclusion

I would rather have 500 Subs on Steemit than 500.000 on YouTube. I love the interaction here, I love the fact that I'm actually earning some money for my efforts. Most of all I love actually getting the Exposure and being able to change peoples lives for the better.

Youtube is falling apart because of Steemit and Dlive. If they will not adjust to the new trends of Crypto, youtube will be eaten alive. Great post @markdeheide and moreover if you can bring all those subscribers here...Another followers is added to you. Cheers!

@hiroyamagishi :) yeah they will be in a lot of trouble soon.

It also depends on how rich your Steemit Followers are.

LMAO! Somewhat I agree to a point.

cheers-and-drink.jpg

You've won the golden ticket! Where do we send your Willy Wonka Chocolate Bar?? =)

Thanks @cryptoj215 :) I love chocolate :) Where would you like to send it?

Hahaha @wf9877 it's so true. Regards

That’s the truest (most true?) I’ve read this week.

@wf9877 yes, to a certain extend, yet the fact that people are actually interacting here makes it worth my while :) so even 1000 small fish in the steem pool can really give you an incredible boost, you don't just need to be followed by whales. But true, the fact that there are whales who can vote on your posts does really help :) This is something that is completely not relevant at youtube

Beautiful, well done .. wonderful work
Wow .. there is no comparison really
Great post from you
Thanks for sharing

Thanks @slimanepro :) always good to see you out here!

Steemit is simply the best and a user-friendly. And since it is crypto-based platform, surely it will skyrocket soon and its payout will be far better than anything else.

very good

Wow thanks for the comparison and analytics between your YouTube account and Steemit. I didn't realize YouTube paid so low per viewer. Just imagine the day when you get 200,000 subs on Steemit. I didn't know you had a piano niche! That's cool. You should introduce that on here as well. We are all early adopters of Steemit, I can't wait for it to go mainstream.

I have my piano lessons here, but I have been focussing more on this account on Steemit because I enjoy it more :) When I have time I will roll-ou the piano lessons on a more daily basis.

Yeah the average pay is $1.2 per 1000 views.. So yeah.

STEEM is better! Or at least it will be very soon!!

Whoop whoop! :) @skycornish

In my own view point and experience, even 100 good followers on steemit is better than 50K subscribers on Youtube because most on Youtube and the nature of the capitalist system does not add financial value-only exposure which is ok however you can still go hungry...good post, upped and more success to you.

Thanks @charles1 :) Yeah the whole system of getting a lot of exposure, and then hoping that people will purchase your products to me is less appealing than simply getting paid a very small amount like even $0.01 by someone liking your content, because that is a more direct link, and therefore more predictable :)

You need just 1 whale follower and you are rich. 🤑😂

Haha YES :) that's also a very good point :) @scorer :)

But do not get overexcited, because when you get one you have another problem - other users are going to abuse you for that. So, instead of one abuser (Youtube) You get hundreds of them.

@scorer thanks! You mean the schmaltz guy? but how does that work anyway, if someone flags you. Does it affect your reputation score if they are lower? And do you lose visibility or I don't really understand.

No need to demonstrate ;) just explain please :)

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

The same as upvote just the opposite - downvote. You loose money. If the upvote is +$100.99 and downvote is -$90, you get $10.99.

Open the previous link and click on one item which was voted and see the details.

abuse-2018-04-22.png

@scorer but I thought we could only flag, not downvote on steemit? I'm a bit confused :P

bro please gift me upvote

Great analysis, as more youtubers become aware of the earning potential with Steemit the platform is going to take off.

@Elijah yeah I mean how can you not? I know some youtubers still earn a pretty fat stack of cheddar, but I'm not one of them haha

I agree. I like that the platform verifies you.

Wow! It's amazing how much better the numbers are on steemit. Hodge twins recently did a video as well on this.

@mysearchisover yeah I don't follow them but I did hear they are enjoying it a lot ;) someone mentioned it to me before

There is no question that steemit is much more empowering than any of the lamestream old tech sites. Im surprised youtube has lasted this long without any serious competition.

@zhanmusi that is because they were the first ones, everybody knows of youtube. I remember when I started there and people were like; uhh I never really watch youtube, and now they are all like: shit I wish I had started travel blogging haha :P

Same will happen on steemit, I'm glad to be here now :)

heyy @markdeheide I have been following your content and yeah I have always learnt something from it. steemit cannot be compared to any social media network it is miles ahead and in few years it will be the leading cryptocurrency just as everyone assumes
steemit is also changing many lives especially here in Africa so it is the real deal

@ireneblessing first of all, if that is your surname, wow that is so cool! :) Also, yeah if Steemit becomes the social media place to go to, or the main blogging website, OMG I cannot even imagine how lives will change, especially indeed in poor countries.

@markdeheide thanks for that ireneblessing is my name here in Uganda we are doing as much as we can at least every week we do a steemit promotion in publicplaces where we give out flyers to people so they can join steemit it is changing lives so many steemians are earning a living from it

That is pretty awesome to see people doing work like that. Typically how long does it take to get an account approval out there? for me it took about a month from when I signed up.

hi @stuckonaneyelnd it takes roughly a week to get you started and by the way thanks for passing by my blog

@stuckonaneyelnd wow it took you a month! I have two accounts for different topics and I got both approved within 7 days. Well, I guess it has to do with when you do it, because nowadays many people are applying right?

Whoever, Steemit Win :) ... Steemit Is Better.

Yay @sniper555! :)

steemit better,this is future

Yes, regular television is dying, and soon youtube will follow unless if they can make sure that people are getting paid. It is not just about the money, you want recognition, and getting 200.000 followers isn't easy, that should be rewarded :)

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Maybe you would want to try

and https://www.dlive.io/ for your great videos, you could sign up there using your steemit keys. I believe you could earn more there...

Thanks @joshvel yeah I've heard of dtube I haven't looked at dlive yet.

You are trending because you spent on bots. Coz of trash like you, steemit reward pool is getting raped..

Scums like you will abuse steemit for something better when it comes..

Youtube made you what you are, and now you are saying youtube is trash?

greedy psycopath

Haha! Interesting point!

Yes if you use bots you can trend, that is called marketing. You invest your money to have more people see your posts. Yet people can always choose themselves if they want to upvote or not, if they want to follow or not. As long as content is good, why not market it? If you post bullshit content and market it, that would be greedy, I actually put a lot of work in my posts, why should I not be able to promote them?

I'm also not saying youtube is trash.

See the title

Steemit is the future man! We need to rise our voice!

@jorgedr0id Whoop whoop! And we are the early adopters! We will be the people that people are going to refer to as: shit why didn't I join back in 2018 :P haha

I would rather have 500 Subs on Steemit than 500.000 on YouTube.

Another proof that this tech called blockchain is the future and Steemit is got the social part covered. keep up the good work @markdeheide, resteemed.

thanks @micscrypt :)

I hope steemit is the best opportunity than youtube

Yeah, I feel it is at this moment a much better opportunity :)

Just watching your video's for my whitelist votes ;-)
Great video and unexpected to say the least.

You got my follow and my vote.

Thanks @news-today :) Yeah I was also really surprised with these results to be honest! :)

I love the interaction here, I love the fact that I'm actually earning some money for my efforts.

I love the interaction part of this statement as well. If there's one thing that makes Steemit stand out in the competition, it would be this particular criteria*. Medium has no match to be honest.

Yes @introvertspeaks I mean, the amount of comments I got on this post are just absurd :) I get more comments here on 1 video, than on my 600 videos on youtube in one day haha :P

Wow great! Really you are doing very good job, keep it up.

Thanks @tangera :) Glad to see you out here! How are you liking Steemit so far?

Steemit is far better then youtube

@alph4 Yay! :)

informative post . thank you very much.

You are right. 325 steemit follower more and more better than youtube huge subscriber if 325 follower upvote your post.

YEah @shihab1997 if everybody upvotes your post it is just incredible :) but I also really like people taking the time and effort to comment :)

How did you grow your channel so fast? I've written a lot of post and I only started getting any traction the last couple weeks. I've never seen payouts this big.... Please share the secrets to your success. When you get a minute read some of my articles

Hey@ronsheckelson, so first of all I have put over $2000 in my steemit account, I pick topics that are really truly deep to my heart and I go 100% in on them, and reply to every single comment. I upvote my own posts and time the release. And I also use upvote bots in the first hour :)

Thanks for the info.

Steemit for the win then!! Let's all help each other with upvotes, people!! :D

@coderguyhans Yay! :)

Thats impressive
Nice comparism

Thanks @edibobo glad you liked it! :)

Yes that's true..

:) @fabuloux thanks for commenting! :)

For me it's the other way around, on Youtube I earn more money than Steem. can be yes that my content is not as popular here as on YouTube.

Bei mir ist es anderstrum, über Youtube verdiene ich mehr Geld als bei Steem. kann ja sein das mein content hier nicht so gefragt ist wie auf YouTube

@speed-ride ah good to see you here as well! :) yeah well I mean this can be different for different people but these are my results.

My stats are much different, I have far less subs on youtube and around 300 on steem but I make far less on steem, like 4 dollars in 5 months. Like what most people on here have said, it depends on how rich your followers are.

@joshofalltrades, but if you have less than 300 subs on youtube how do you make more than $4? Because you need about 1000 views per 1$ at least, that's what I'm earning on youtube.

I have around 300 subs on steemit, almost 5k on youtube

ah okay, yeah :) makes sense I just didn't get it before. Well it is really dependent on the topic and niches of videos :)

I meant that I have far less subs than you

Wow, this is really good information man, thanks for doing the math.

You're most welcome @travelcouple1 :)

Find it hard to believe that more people arent jumping ship from Youtube to Steemit!
Sooner or later as more people post these kind of results to their followers it'll happen!

Yeah @cryptoj215 it's matter of time. I mean come on haha the comparison says it all I guess.

@markdeheide, you know the difference already so why are you confused, my suggestion is this you should active both account but steemit is better.

I'm not confused. I don't understand why you would think that. I am happily surprised though by the great impact and returns on Steemit :)

i said that YouTube i just now a fun if some one wants some real work and some real earning then it will do this by steemit beta it will give you awesome earning in short time i love it ..............

yeah @usman7614 definitely the case. Youtube can be fun, yet with a lot of bored people on there who start trolling, I find the vibe on steemit much more positive.

thanks bro

Ad revenue has always been pretty trash but those numbers are ridiculous. Getting paid that and dealing with demonetization and stuff, no thanks.

@blackbergeron yes exactly, I mean I have around 575.000 views a month on YouTube earning me around $1100 which, if you look at how much advertisers pay to get the ads up, seems a little weird to me according to the supposed 45/55 percent split on YouTube...

Edit: ow and keep in mind, none, not a single one of my videos has been demonetised.

Wow..congratulations bro..

Thanks @ganeshsahy :) How are you liking Steemit so far?

you are posting good content. keep it up
i always with you.

When you copy/paste or repeatedly type the same comments you could be mistaken for a bot.

Tips to avoid being flagged

Thank You! ⚜

Thanks! :)

Steemit is awesome

@jumojay Yeah it is amazing! :)

Hey, just wanted to let you know I gave you an upvote because I appreciate your content! =D See you around

Hey Thanks so much @greentomorrow! :) Hope to see you around more often indeed!

Very good post... and I hope you go more up here :)
And Hi from Estonia :)

Thanks @foxkoit glad to hear you like it! :) How have you been enjoying Steemit?

I've been actively using it for a year now, and posted my pictures here. I like photography ... and I but all my photos here up bad photos too if day not look good. :))
But steemit, what I think.... it is very cool :) it help me a lot... when I was but my photos up in Instagram... ( I have same name there too what is here) ...I did not get nothing back... but here WOW.... if I make post more every day ... I can go and look world soon. And which gives me even more opportunity to bring bigger pictures here in steemit.

And when someone has asked me what I can say about steemit :), I'm saying that I'm not the right person to explain it..... BUT START USE IT.... IT HELP A LOT.

@foxkoit Yeah I think posting your photos on Steemit can be so much more useful in a direct way than on instagram. Even though I like to post on Instagram as well :)

the post is very amazing comrade @markdeheide I like it.

Thanks @hamdan12 :) I'm glad to hear that. Yeah I'm loving it hear on Steemit so far and it's going so much better than on Youtube, take this post, we have 100 comments here, and like 1 on Youtube haha :P

I personally prefer 325 steemit followers.
BECAUSE
steemit.jpg

yay! :) @kevindjunaidi :)

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Well I will tell you my opinion! Steemit is better and thats for sure. After some time you will have about 5000 Steemit followers and even more. For the now Youtube is still useful and as they say "Old is Gold". I find more videos and content on YouTube and it is a part of daily routine. It will take us sometime to find the same on DTube.
You need to work on both for the now and with sharing more videos about Steemit on Youtube, you will help the platform gain new users. That means more followers for you on Steemit and new users for us :) Everything is Good !

Yes @hanen right now I post my videos on youtube and share them here because I'm currently joining @brandonfrye in his dTube boycott for not telling us that they take a 25% cut. Yet if we wait some time all will be better, new things always take time to figure out ey :)

Keep up the good work :)

I think you make some good points here with the overall value per follower here compared to youtube, but we also must remember that they aren't all that comparable. Youtube is strictly a video platform whereas steemit is both long and short form blogging, pictures, videos, etc. Youtube also has 1000x bigger user base than steemit, so although the earnings per follower here on steemit are better, they might not be relatable to youbtube. Thirdly, here on steemit, like you've done with this post, is you can pay to have more peoples eyes see your content. Those who cannot suffer from this.

Now if you had said Youtube vs @dtube, than we could make a proper comparison, as they are similar platforms, but steemit is a little bit different.

So you do make some good points, there is a lot more to it.

Well @jasonshick very valid points! :)

Here's what I think though, yes of course it is not 1on 1 comparable yet the gap is soooo big I think the comparison is still relevant.

You can actually promote videos on youtube as well, via the youtube ad system. So that point is a little meh. Even though you would go broke on youtube and earn back here on steemit.

But yeah the platforms are very different, all I can say is from my current experience I love steemit way more :)

I think the future is with decentralized social media and we are in a good spot, much better than what’s out the more now

thanks @jasonchick If steemit becomes mainstream our lives are going to change forever #earlyadopters

I think what you are missing here is the potential revenue from sponsors too. You can add these into the video itself with a far better return for your pocket. What does an advertiser want? Views. Lets take for an example. I walk into a major brand. I say thay I can get you 300 quality views on steemit as opposed to 30000 views on youtube. What would they pick? I know what sounds more appealing.

Also by adding in your own advertisment by the way of an episode sponsor can get you some hard and fast cash if your a constant uploader!

Think about it....this quality piano tutorial is proudly brought to you by 'yamaha pianos!'

@alhoppo

Yes @alhoppo that is true, sponsors can help, but it doesn't matter it all about numbers.

We could then also compare 200.000 youtube subs to 200.000 on Steemit, and guess what would happen then to a sponsor? with people that actually interact, they would love that even more.

Also, sponsors are not always keen on working with people on youtube I've only ever found 1 that had reasonable terms. But I mean sure, for some niches it really works and they earn a lot of money with sponsoring. Yet most it's just referral links and if people don't click it?

Also notice I'm getting an average of 1300 views on my videos in the first 7 days, maybe 2600 in the first month, that is not super attractive to sponsors either.

But in all fairness you make a good point, sponsor income shouldn't be neglected :)

I think what you are missing here is the potential revenue from sponsors too. You can add these into the video itself with a far better return for your pocket. What does an advertiser want? Views. @alhoppo

Honestly I am a bit surprised.
200k subs is a lot and still the earning is here better than on YouTube?

I have to admit that I never expected that. I mean 200k subs? Of course the quality of subs matters but anyway.

Happy to hear that you are enjoying steemit so far.

@modernpastor, well I mean the relative earnings are per post :) and sometimes also the Total earnings. You see on YouTube you get paid per view, and my subscribers are simply not that interactive on YouTube. It may also be due to the niche, yet I see this happening all over YouTube people with 200K subs getting 1000 views only on new videos. There also channels who are doing really well with more views per video than subscriber amount :)

Thanks my friend for this detailed comment. :)

no worries ;)

Great article, interesting statistics.
Thank you for sharing those insights with us! :-)
I once made a similar comparison to reddit, without the financial aspect of course...

Yeah, I have never been on reddit to be honest. that is probably really bad. Would you say it is still relevant today @spreadfire1?

I'd say it is definitely relevant, there are by far more people using reddit than steemit. Also if you post an article on reddit, you will get honest feedback immediately and a real discussion, depending on the importance and quality of the article. Not like on steemit, where everybody just wants to make money and it takes a looong time to build up a following or just money to promote your own posts ;-)

@spreadfire cool! :) I will have a look at how it works soon :)

Well, this post is an eye opener. All we need to do is create more awareness about steemit to our friends and people around us. hoping to increase real participation.. Nice one...

Hey @chidipeters, yeah can you imagine getting Steemit to 100M users or above?

hahaha :)

That was a hell of a comparison. Loved it. People should really consider building a community here.

Yes @singhnishantce! :) Steemit can really change people's lives.

Looking forward to it dear.

Yes! :) I cannot wait to see more people joining steemit! :)

Good post @markdeheide. You're right! 200,000 subscribers is good but it will still depend on how many active users there are.

Yeah @gvincentjosephm especially in the piano nice it is not very common that a lot of users will come back. They simply want to learn a specific song and they don't care who teaches it, as long as they can learn it. Which is of course fine. Yet it makes it hard to get engagement from everybody :)

I think steemit is great. But may i recommend a Sub for Youtube. Try LIT App. Mithril Coin.

Thanks :)

So if this is true and someone is a new blogger,/vlogger and need to pick one venue to focus on and then focus on the second, which should one put in more effort? While Steemit is great, do you still get more exposure worldwide with Youtube?

@juliabreheny. Uhh, yeah you get way more exposure here, especially you use the correct tags, and post on niche topics. YouTube is so cluttered, and stuffed with videos from VEVO for instance that is almost impossible to make an impact and gain a following nowadays starting from zip, without using facebook and instagram and a very smart marketing plan. And even if you have 10.000 subscribers on Youtube you will most likely make a maximum of $100 a month. Well, on steemit, if you gain even 1000 followers that are loyal you will easily beat that :)

i was also thinking the same as u...even,i was planning to have a post on this.😭 come on man...dont ruin my plan like this.😆

Haha @nasmawali, well you can still do it right?

good content bro, thanks for sharing

You're most welcome @flachito88 :)

Well thats the reason you've write here and publish your video on youtube. You don't have to choose between any of them cause either of them are in your favour right now. Exponential growth it is.

Well the main reason I post them to youtube is because I just find it easy because I know how it works haha :P @allbums

i agree with you, i thinki youtube is very difficult to grow up, because we were spending many time at there, and financial also. it why i love stay on @steemit

Yeah I mean, you need around 1.000.000 views a month just to have a proper income, and that is very hard to get on youtube. I hope you will find it better here @inialutarfus

I totally got your point. Actually i don't know what kind of content your are doing (Quality, time, tutorials whatever you do with your piano, okay i will check it out :D) but i highly believe that your viewership on steemit is just way older in average than you viewers on youtube. I would love to get some more numbers from you. So i don't know if i express it right, but on steemit with the more mature users, u target your viewership way more than on youtube.

@harktheshark I don't think it is the age of the viewers. It is mainly the 'why do I go to that website'. On Youtube I feel most people are just wasting their time. I watch youtube when I'm taking a dump on the toilet haha :P But I hardly go there for quality and in depth content. Even though it is available there, it is rare. On steemit I feel people are genuinely interested :)

Congratulation @markdeheide. your description is good and maintain a class. thanks

Thanks @ silentworld I'm happy to hear that! :)

Both Google and Estimate are good sites, both of which can be well-lit.Even then, it is best to estimate to me that it can be easily earned here. You have a platform that looks good???????

I don't know 'Estimate' I take it that is a typo for steemit right? I mean the platform here is new and when youtube started it followed with many improvements, I think steemit can make us all rise to the top, especially if you join early :)

Oh no that is #steemit

Ow haha okay :)

Great analytics and review. Thanks for sharing! I have deemed Youtube no longer worth my time. I only post here now!

@clovisstar, yeah for me at this point my big channel is still worth my time. Simply due to the fact that I am still earning around $1100 a month there. But my new channel, the ones I create these videos on pffffffff

cảm ơn vì đã có những chia sẻ thú vị.
chúc anh những gì tốt đẹp

YouTube is a dinosaur that is becoming irrelevant very quickly because they are trying too hard to be politcally correct by censoring their content to follow their own political agenda. I don't think they see that it's hurting their brand and the content creators. I love that you pointed this out, it needs to be said.
Ivy

@socent well it is not just that, I mean yes, very valid point. But also, I worked soooo hard getting 200.000 people to follow me, and I don't want to sound ungrateful but it's a lot of people. Earning $1100 a month is like $0.005 per person per month, I mean I feel my content is worth a little more than that :P

Steemit >>>> everything else!

To the moon, boys!

Haha yes! To the moon it is @zemiatin :) this is the most excited I have ever been about a website and the opportunities and I'm so glad to be one of the first to join! :)

Thank you for the great post!

You're most welcome @jaypost724

I do not know if I still I have not understood how it works but I actually have few comments, few visits and no many upvotes.
And my content is high quality. I think you should do a video in how you actually made to have more viewers.

Bye!

Hey Manuel, even though your content may be high quality it doesn't matter if nobody gets to see it. Make sure to use correct tags, share your posts on other social media like facebook and youtube to start with, and like your own posts. It also really helps to put money in. I put more than $2000 in my account.

Thanks Mark! I will do so!

Fuck yeah dude. Wanna meet some more friends on Steemit. I created the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network Discord Channel. It has 17k Steemians that are a part of it. I have a weekly radio show on Sunday nights it starts at 9pm EST. Would love to have you on the show. It's usually some good exposure and I have ties to the music community so maybe I can make some introductions there too.

Welcome to Steem. Glad to have you here and happy to help you get going even faster than what you're already doing!

Hey @aggroed! Thanks for the invite that sounds cool! :) I live in The Netherlands though, how could you have me on? Can we do it online? :)

p.s. sometimes I cannot find replies, so if you reply and I don't answer I lost it haha :P then you can always find me on instagram @markdeheide or facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1615227085

yeah, it's online thorugh discord, link in my last note. Discord is a community chat, voice, and video off chain application.

Ah yeah I've been on discord before. Yeah sure let me know! :)

I agree with you, I started my vlogs at the end of last year on each platform, youtube and steemit (dlive). I haven't even made a penny on youtube since you have so many requirements to meet before you can start earning on there. On STEEMIT, you hope on and immediately can start earning income without selling out months of your life in hopes of a future reward.

@pittsburghhodlr yeah and it used to be even harder start earning on youtube, when I started you needed around 150.000 views, 1500-5000 subs and needed to ask a manual review process haha :P

Yeah it's so much easier here :)

When the STEEM blockchain arrives people will be posting here first and then dumping their content over on YouTube after the fact. Oh wait...... that is what I already mainly do at this point since YouTube won't monetize my Crypto channel that has over 5 times the required hours watched and 3 times the subscriber threshold.

Keep up the good work man!

thanks @brianphobos Oh youtube really doesn't like crypto content ey? :P haha yeah. Even if you get monetised earnings are so low, I mean you might earn $1.2 per 1000 views...

Well I would mainly expect for it to be $1 / 1000 views but they won't give me anything right now. I think everyone is really perplexed with what YouTube is really thinking or trying to do right now. Everyone is just kind of getting mad at them.

@briandphobos The problem is these industries desperately holding on to business models of the past. It's the same as with Hollywood studios that don't want to put movies on Netflix, or artists that don't want to put their stuff on iTunes or Spotify (but then like 5 years ago) so what happens, people just download their stuff. And now it is the same with youtube not switching over to better business models. People simply use ad blockers and it doesn't work anymore.

That's very true. Those in power will always seek to retain their power. Paradigm shifts will often render their ways obsolete.

@brianphobos whatI don't get though is why those in power are so stupid about it. If you really want to remain in power you have to adapt, you can only suppress people for so long. Why not upload your TV shows to steemit instead of having people download them via BitTorrent for free haha :P

I agree with you, I started my vlogs at the end of last year on each platform, youtube and steemit

@mala99kz :) did you notice big differences?

In Steemit you have the freedom to talk and show your content, I feel that in Steemit there are more mature people, in Youtube instead, most of them are immature (sorry but not sorry) xD

@milo.mar yeah youtube is filled with a bunch of young kids, but also older people :) The community is very different indeed. I hope the reputation score system on steemit will help people not to behave as dicks. :)

We're seeing very different statistics on our YouTube channel from what you're experiencing.

Our YouTube channel is only 2 months old. We have 600 followers and our latest videos are getting 600-1,000 views in the first 48 hours.

Our latest videos are getting 100-150 likes in the first 48 hours and about 50 comments.

In fairness, we rank for most of our tags on most of our videos, so that's going to get our videos recommended by YouTube a lot more.

We also drive a lot of traffic to our YouTube videos through Steemit and Facebook, so that artificially inflates our YouTube numbers a bit. We don't have many followers on Facebook but we're driving traffic from Facebook groups within our niche.

@tangerinetravels. Very interesting results. yes for me youtube is my main traffic source for my piano lessons so no derivative views at all. Also, my niche is so freaking filled with competition haha :P

I guess this has nothing to do with Einstein's "Theory of relativity", right?

I wouldn't know @zorank I haven't studied that. But if you could explain it shortly I would be happy to know more about it :)

@markdehaide This is super great informative and the compartment is stunning. I would think it is the other way around. Thank you. Have a super great weekend!

Thanks @sasharay :) Yeah it is crazy right? :P Great weekend to you too! :)

@markdeheide Crazy indeed :) Thank you for the wishes!

Well 200.000 subs and 50 likes per week on youtube is somehow sad for the platform.

Anyway, I suppose you paid to promote this post, right?

Hey @janikmoody yes I paid to promote the post, yet I've gotten way over $100 in upvotes from actual users so I'm extremely happy with that :)

To be honest it may also be due to my niche on youtube, yet in general I see a lot of people with a lot of subs, and low engagement. It is because youtube is sending people to more and more accounts instead of showing videos from accounts you actually follow.

Steemit will surely make you rich in no time at comparing to other social media like YouTube. But for me, I think I'll have to wait for 2-5 years :(

@domdae but even if you would wait 2-5years I honestly believe STEEM will to around $10 easily once we see a higher adoption of the steemit platform. And being on here today makes it worth the while :)

I'll gain much followers by that time so I'll have more upvotes hahahaha

Yes! and that is the point,. We are on here now so we have a really good chance to gain as many followers as possible before the whole world will join :)

We need to be famous ASAP :D

You actually helped me understand the platform a bit, that's cool!
Sometimes less is more.
You seem like a cool person so you've been followed 🙏🏻😊

Thank you @irenevice :) I hope I can teach you much more in the weeks to come!

Hope so too!

I have seen others have a very similar experience and feel I will too have it! Great video and writing.

Thanks @ngm2219 yeah we will all have it. everybody that is on steemit today is way ahead people that are going to join in 2020 :)

I actually had the exact same thought recently. It is a nice feeling.I am also starting a youtube channel soon!

Ah cool! :) I hope you will be successful on youtube as well as here on steemit!

Thank you :)

Most welcome! :)

Hi. I've just started steemit 10 days before. I think it is very difficult to get upvote. I don't know what people are interested in. I also have U-tube account. Google is very severe now. unless I have more than 1000 subscriber, I cannot earn money at all. so, I hope that I can get more friends on steemit so that I can make money

@sakurasui, give it some time or purchase Steempower. I've invested over $2000 in my account :) keep in mind steemit is still small it will grow over time :)

I don't know why some people get lots of money even though he or she hasn't got so many upvotes, and some people cannot earn much money even though he has already so many upvots. why?? I have not so much knowledge about steemit...sorry for my poor English.

@sakurasui your English is fine :) well if someone has more STEEMPOWER and votes on your post you get more money. I had D-tube voting on some of my post and they're voting with $40 per vote haha :)

Thank you .. How can I know if someone has lots of STEEMPOWER.. I 'm sorry . I don't know what meaning STEEMPOWER has..when you have time, tell me....thank you.

Hey @sakurasui so everybody has a wallet, and the wallet is publicly visible, so you can go to my account @markdeheide and click on my wallet to see how much STEEMPOWER I have. And you can also see all transactions.

The more STEEMPOWER, the more your vote is worth :)

Very interesting breakdown. Not too many people have such a following on youtube to be able to compare. Thankyou for sharing this info as it is valuable to the growth of the community!

More than welcome @anthonyj :)

Engagement is more important than the number of followers/suscribers/ contributors, no matter the platform.

Yeah exactly @cryptolegolas, what good is all those followers if they don't actually follow ;)

vote for steem. Cause I belive it to the moon

@namtran yes Steem will go hard! :)

I am pretty shy on the Cam so for me the reverse would work perfectly fine. Further more I am more of a writer than I am a talker 😝

I'm camera shy for days too, maybe a collaboration with a pro vlogger will help break the fear, just a thought @elsiekjay.

Haha. Well, are you that Pro? We could do a collabo lol.
But on a serious note, thats a great idea really! I will put that under advicement.

I wish I was a pro. :))

Practice Practice makes perfect!

Well you see, when I talk to the camera I pretend I talk to one or two people that really like me and want to hear what I have to say. That helps a lot :)

that's a trick right there.

100% agree with what you said and glad to see you on here!

Thanks @thelifeofjord :) I'm glad to have you on here too! :) How are you liking steemit so far? :)

well...post and comments earn money so EVERYONE hit like button and write comment - no surprice

@kurg79 yes, but comments and votes don't earn you that much if you don't have steempower. Also, I think you don't get paid for commenting right? Only if someone upvotes your comment :)

"1,2or3-GuessTheNumber" - Use your logic only in order to guess a secret number selected by the random number bot every day. If you wish to participate, please put your number (i.e. "1", "2" or "3") in memo and send exact 1 SBD to @monitorprivate Steemit account. Check at the end of the day if you guessed the correct number randomly selected by our bot. By giving the right answer you will be awarded with 2 SBD to your account. Anyone is welcome to participate only once every day. Good luck.

thanks @piashchowdury :) glad to hear you like it and hope to see you out here more often :)

Wow sangat luar biasa saya menyukainya.

@vania01 thanks but can you say it in English! :)

Hey. Have you tried DTube or DLive instead of uploading to YouTube? You might find your earnings go through the roof if you do.

Then you won’t need to spend money on voting bots as well.

Hey @mazzly, yeah I have tried DTube but I wasn't too happy with the interface and low video quality, also the fact they take 25% of the profit..

nice breakdown bro

thanks @zorro7 :)

Congratulations @markdeheide!
Your post was mentioned in the Steemit Hit Parade in the following category:

  • Pending payout - Ranked 4 with $ 394,4

Thanks! :) whoop whoop

This is a good insight to how much Steemit is on the roll here. It's just way beyond it's time. Can't wait to read more of your post @markdeheide
