We all know that English is the international language. Is the language that you will use for communication on the internet.
A high percentage of Steemit posts are in English(maybe 99% ?) and the trending ones are all in English. I understand the need to speak one language in order to understand each other.
But although lot of people can understand English, they are not able to express themselves in it. And Steemit is all about expressing yourself : writing about your life, travels, ideas ,hobbies etc.
So without knowing English well you will never accomplish something in this platform. Maybe you will make some dollars , but the broken English will never make it , to the trending page.
Maybe you will ask what's the purpose of this post. I'm writing this to encourage people to post on their native language and users from the same country or that understand the particular language to upvote them.
Yes, English is the language of the internet and Steemit posts will be written in English in order to attract a larger audience but let's give the opportunity to other people here on Steemit to write posts on their native language!
I'm in an area with a lot of Hispanic migrant workers and I use the translate/multi-lingual post function of Facebook to try to make it so the ones who's English isn't as good can read the posts if they'd like. Maybe something like that could be considered. If so, I would suggest the translation be done on the viewers end though vs the posters, unlike FB. I have to choose the language to translate, it would make more sense if the viewer chose the language they wanted it in instead. It may not be perfect translations(to put it lightly) but it might be good enough they can at least get the point where as they might not otherwise.
