In my opinion people just got tired of writing good posts and receiving 2 cents so alot of people gave up and it made the whole website less active

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
