Critical Mass, Action Potential, Paradigm Shift
Startups seek that hockey stick growth pattern. Besides a little buzz here and there since launching Steem, neither the platform nor the token has hit upon sustainable advances in awareness or adoption. There is massive consolidation of of both the on-platform tokens and voting power that influences the daily reward pool.
When we talk about groups it's often the powerful accounts and how they move their influence across the network that gets focused on most often. I think folks who are making deeper communications and are truly reading content have to find equally powerful and organic ways to compete with the concentrations of people that are willing to buy engagement or activity from the service bots that are available.
How many users will Steemit need? Dollars flowing? Developers building?
Community Development
The only good solution I can think of that can move quickly is to anoint some layer of moderator like cultivators to the largest publishing sectors here on Steemit at least. It’s a stepping stone of a tool that may not last for long but might also be able to help new users find a path for themselves here. These community guides could even be funded roles, maybe something like the proposal system for the reward pool that @jerrybanfield wrote about this week could bring this to life.
The application process could even prompt users to select a few topical interests similar to the Twitter signup that would be a way for the system to put that type of content in front of users immediately.
Just some ideas I was thinking about...
Appreciate any feedback as to what is decent here or what won't work because of mechanisms I don't understand yet. Just trying to learn and contribute some ideas.
