Making a living on Steemit

in steemit •  8 years ago

I joined Steemit two weeks ago and I’ve been smitten since.
I’m a writer – or at least, I want to be a writer, full time, as a career, earning a wage, making a crust, bringing home the bacon.
I doubt I’ll ever be the main wage earner in this household, I have a really clever husband. He’s an Engineer – actually, he’s now Senior Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer – and I’m SO proud, but hey, this is about me, not him… :p

I’m still learning – and boy! There’s a lot to learn.
Bitcoins, mining, steem, lots and lots to learn.
For example, I know Steemit is big on Original Content – and rightly so – but I’ve seen people re-posting their first blogs in order to get the attention and votes they missed out on when they were little tiny plankton. Is that OK or not? I would have thought not OK but like I said… still learning.

To me, this is NOT all about making money – sure, it’s a major consideration, but it’s not THE be-all-and-end-all.
My ambition is for hubby to retire and potter about doing things he wants to do for once, such as restoring his classic car and maintaining his motorcycle (and mine) and if I can make that happen with my writing, then I would be the happiest bunny in the whole world.

Trev (Hubby) used to be a miner. He has worked down coal mines all his working life apart from a few years between, when he slogged 16 hours a day on his own business. See what I’m getting at? He’s always worked hard, often in dangerous – lethal – conditions and it’s my turn to let him relax.

My Daily average author rewards stands at 1.173 STEEM POWER - 1.079 SD and I’m pretty sure that is NOT going to pay the mortgage.

But today something happened. Overnight (I’m in the UK) two of my posts made almost $50 between them and my reputation went from 47 to 51

I estimate that at just $50 per day I can trundle along, not worrying about finding a 9-5 job (I hate those, I’ve done them before and it’s way too ‘peopley’ for me).

So… I’m going to try to make this my new career.

To date, I have 62 followers, 103 posts and I’m following (stalking) 304 Steemians. My Steem Power is at a heady 18.385.

I’m giving myself to the end of October to get this party started, otherwise I’ll be job-hunting and I really, REALLY don’t want to go out there…

Good luck!

Just a small tip - don't post more than 4 articles per 24 hours - you won't get paid for all of them if you exceed that (there is a cap).

Thank you for that valuable info!

Allways good to have dreams, but you are currently making like 5 usd per day, you need multiply that with 10, if you really want make living in steemit.
For most steem offers only these:

  • Sijoittaja

I know! But Rome wasn't built in a day, I'm working on it :)

Hi from another UK Steemer. I think a few people will be able to make a living here, but it can be hit and miss. If you can grow a following of hundreds then it may get more regular, but Steemit will need to grow a lot more. Good luck

Thanks and Good Luck to you too :)
