In hindsight, because of the way new accounts are discovered on steemit, having a name earlier in alphabetical ordering also helps a lot, because it means that your name appears first in lists of people's followers etc.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
